We rely on US a lot for protection over the pacific so we may be heavily impacted based on our need to support any potential future conflict that arises

Thesedays, either you vote early by mail or at literally any election booth you can find, or if you must on the weekend it's held - wander down to the local school, perhaps line up for a few minutes, vote, then grab a democracy sausage.

The grey import prices were a bit too much, so I've been making so with a Razer Kishi and phone, just steam linking to phone. It's good, but small screen / wrong aspect ratio means black bars.
I will be traveling for work again soon which makes it even more appealing.

Simply put it has a scripts feature where it will run scripts pre or post install. It checksums the scripts so it only runs them on change - and for example you can also include other files in the checksum (so for my installs, I chose to pop a text file with packages to install for fedora/termux/fedora-gui and included them in the installation script, so it only runs when the script or the package list update)

I'm also trying to do a full setup for win/Linux. Currently, I've done fedora & termux (and I'm using fedora in WSL) but im about to reinstall/upgrade gaming PC so I want to do windows as well (using chocolatey/winget). Still not sure if ill roll win in the same repo yet or if windows is better separated.

My repo isn't fully featured but its here - the chezmoi scripts are in the .chezmoiscript folder.

It's an interesting argument, CIRC if you go without shoes your toes spread back out again like nature intended.

Alas, I grew up on a farm and got punctured by thistles a LOT a kid, so it's a hard pass for me. I don't even like walking on grass barefoot. Also, plenty of rusty nails to be very careful about (tetanus shots are no joke).

I loathe walking on driveways as stones are horridly uncomfortable. Syringes at beaches, that's also a big watch-out. Oh, ever been around box thorn bushes? Also, a no. Ooh, sticky pub floors from spilt beer. Heck some areas of some cities have pretty icky sidewalks with people urinating in public (usually from meth/drug users or near pubs)

    Ill stick to icky shoes.

I guess this could be a bit of a regional question too.

You're definitely correct. LSIO is good for newcomers, I used them in my docker-compose days. I'd like to see self-hosting become more and more popular to drive FOSS and indie web agenda, so the easier we can make it the better.
My concerns usually go to their build, and over complexity with things like the docker-mod stuff, using S6 overlay, often rootfull. I had one (calibre) that did most of the apt install stuff post-docker launch, which made my startup time painfully long as for some reason apt usually runs at a handful of KB/s with default servers. I generally want as much of that as possible done in the container, not on launch.
You don't have to build your own, the k8s@home community have a lot of better practice ones build for a lot of apps which are pretty widely used in our community, I use a lot of onedr0p and bjw-s containers (and a few of my own/etc)

Same here. I tried to make a conscious effort to avoid the firehouse of bad global reporting and sub to local subs, only to be met with relentless doom posting about rent, how all landlords and REA are the devil, boomers caused all our current problems are interest rates are destroying us.
There's only so much of that I can take. I was hoping for a hell of a lot more balanced interests from a local set of Aussies, but it seems that culture just spilt out everywhere.

I feel better from not engaging there at all now, its back to only seeing Reddit for specific queries, hopefully using my libreddit instance ongoing.
Also, hit me up if you find some ways of being more engaged in local Aussie stuff, outside a local Facebook group (which is even more awful than most Reddit subs) I'm sorta out of ideas.

Here's a curve ball: my 3 kubernetes nodes run a OS called Talos.
It's built ground up to run kubernetes and API driven.
No SSH, telnet, console etc. You run it from a cli command and configure it with yaml. No need to worry about os maintenance, a cli command upgrades the OS to the latest.
It has a custom, stripped down kernel and is fast, lean and secure.
On the flipside my NAS (comprised of a 24 bay disk shelf and a Lenovo tiny) runs good old Ubuntu+ZFS (this is setup with Ansible)
