I love this type of thing so much! Messed around with pico-8 quite a bit, and adding a desktop environment is an awesome next step! I love that each application can be directly edited and modified.

Careful that this product is currently an alpha in the strictest sense, so expect breaking bugs even though the developer releases regular updates.
Even Pico-8 and Voxatron are still in beta and alpha respectively. I seriously thought Pico-8 had been gold by now.
