Regarding the article - my understanding is that data centers mostly run on solar and wind because that's the cheapest energy available.

Talking about winner and losers, in the end it's always the little people who lose.
Even in the regard of solar and wind energy.

For example, 3 years ago a region in the Netherlands was pushing hard for green energie to lower the cost for house holds in the vicinity of a certain region.
But all of the sudden META, Google and Microsoft started to look at this area (.e. lobby and gaslight the regional mayors/legislator) to place data centers because cheap energie.

I don't recall how this ended, but if the corpo's got their way it would have been again the normal households losing. (I think the government only allowed one Datacenter)

So I would say go with the lamy safari, it's not the best looking pen but it won't break the bank nor let you down.
Get some good paper as well by the way :)

Simple pen and paper. I might type it out afterwards. But nothing beats sitting there with a nice notepad and my fountain pens (3 different colour inks) and just writing my notes.

I'm playing games I want, reading books new/second hand/from the library and I'm doing a lot of sport climbing outdoor & indoor.

Sure when I do groceries I'm thinking, oh that's def more expensive.
But overall... my life just keeps on going.

Now I must say I'm not a huge party/drinking person anymore. maybe that has also to do with my view?

Death is for sure one of my favorite character in Discworld so I'm almost always happy to read their adventures

Plus I just like Discworld in general, the vibe and wording is just phenomenal.
Though there are a few duds here and there, but considering there are 40 books it's to be expected that they can't all be jewels.

Apparently he considers me a friend ... He is definitely not mine as I don't like the fellow.
I'm just accepting of him as drama/tension is not needed, specially not when we're on a longer trip.

So in that case, no he can't "force" a mutual friendship with myself.
But he is growing a friendship with some of the other members of the group. So in those cases, yes he can.

I'm really liking my Playdate console and I still use it few times a week.
Specially when I just have that 10/15 min downtime between a task and the other.

It's pretty cool to see what people can do with only black and white sprites on such a tiny screen.
And I'm of course tinkering with my own games/applications for the device.

The device might be a bit steeply priced. But the build quality, free games and novelty/fun of the crank is worth it.

I fully agree with this part! Big fan of the older stuff, and I enjoyed most of Discovery as well (not all tough). Strange New Worlds find the nice in between and is just enjoyable to watch.

I ran OpenSuse as my distro of choise for 4 years now, But due to work reasons I recently switched to Windows 10.
And not to shit on Linux of have a Windows rant (tough the touch pad, WiFi and sound drivers where hell to install on Windows), but I can imagine that people feel that every different Linux Distro just has to much sludge to go trough every time you setup a machines.
And learning something like NIX for you config might not be worth it for everybody ( of course it is according moi ;) )

By the way I must say that wsl2 now is pretty decent, and eventough I need Windows for work I'm still 80% of my time just typing away in the terminal where I have WSL2 + OpenSuse tumbleweed running.

Compared to to other mountain activities like hiking and spot climbing it's just very expensive to try out/maintain as a hobby.

Of course for me this might be because I'm from the Netherlands and most of the cost are for the trip itself (food, sleeping, travel, et cetera). And not so much about the cost of the gear itself.
