I bought one and got to play it for a couple of weeks before it tried to update itself, failed and got stuck in a loop. Now I can’t do anything with it. What bothers me is just how terrible support has been. It literally takes 3-4 week for them to reply to an email. And I had to email them, theres no chat function and no phone number listed. After the initial wait, I got a message with instructions and a couple of files to fix the issue, but it didn’t work; so I had to reply to the email with error code and now it’s been 2 weeks… I want to like this device but come on! Hire a couple of more people to man the support lines for gosh sake!
I know that it's not exactly official support procedure, but making a stink on /r/playdateconsole, or @playdate on Twitter/X, or the Official Dev Forums might be a quick way to get more attention....

It's now been two years since the hotly anticipated launch of Panic's handheld, the Playdate.
70,000 units had been sold as of February 2024, and Panic revealed a few more stats about its cranky yellow console last week, to celebrate its anniversary.
150,000 games have been sold since the March 2023 launch of the Playdate storefront, Catalog, representing $544,290 in revenue for the developers behind them. Panic's shop featured 181 games as of April 3, 2024, plus over 800 titles available to sideload via itch.io and the likes.
I'm really liking my Playdate console and I still use it few times a week. Specially when I just have that 10/15 min downtime between a task and the other. It's pretty cool to see what people can...

Specially when I just have that 10/15 min downtime between a task and the other.
It's pretty cool to see what people can do with only black and white sprites on such a tiny screen.
And I'm of course tinkering with my own games/applications for the device.
The device might be a bit steeply priced. But the build quality, free games and novelty/fun of the crank is worth it.
