Got a lot of inspiration from @chocobean and braided 12 colours of embroidery thread together to create mizuhiki flower knots, and then did an attempt with some wires which I really hated so I tried again and this is how my second attempt went. I still don't like it very much to be honest - I feel like it looks like pieces of some carpet lol, but it's a passing grade for its purpose.. I went with way too many different colours of thread so I'll have to give it another try some time, with only 3 or even just 1 colour so that it doesn't lose all its definition once braided+bound into the knot

It's cozy and sweet I love them! How did you manage such a thick copper wire? Maybe it's possible to do a mizuhiki knot with thick wire?! Wouldn't that look gorgeous? I'm hoping to be able to find...

I'm hoping to be able to find some Japanese mizuhiki wire/paper, especially in pretty metallic colours ~~~ they'll make very attractive gift ribbons and card doo-dads and scrapbook decor and....

Well I think it's not actually copper? It seems like it's just a plastic coating. It's quite malleable but still too stiff to make a knot out of it - I tried! Managing it was a bitch and a half, I used pliers for most of it. Thank you for the kind words and thanks again for the inspiration. Definitely gonna be doing this again and yeah, probably for cards and whatnot! 😊

Air-dry clay modeling. It's cheap, I can quickly make something "good" in a couple hours with 0 prior experience, and it feels good to create tangible objects. What's also great is that I find ways to improve myself after each sculpture. Really a cool hobby, I should have tried earlier and I hope I'll stick with it.

Meaning the lingo around bluffing in poker and so on? Are you willing to share what you've got? I'm quite curious.

edit: The glossary is part of a much larger project. It involves a couple of other people, mainly working on the body of the publication and massive video elements. The body of the text will focus on what you mention, and then some.

It still does sound interesting, though. I'm not even sure what 'card expose' is, but searching leads me to guess it's when a card is shown during poker that's not meant to be? (I really don't know anything about poker.) And I suppose some players probably try to use the rules around it to their benefit.

Anyway, it sounds like this project is more serious than a hobbyist's writeup or something, which is what I was picturing. I hope you're having a fun or at least satisfying time with it.

I've a hankerin' for spooky season crafts so I picked up an absolutely adorable ghost wall hanging pattern to work on. Dug out all of my crocheting stuff and found some nice, soft yarn for it....

Unfortunately, the dowels I picked up are a little too short so it will take one more trip to the store

Been working on a near-future hard sci-fi novel (7+ years in the making; short-listed in an international writer's contest). It's about a woman who invents a free food distribution system and a covert government organization that uses AGI to subvert her plans to further their capitalistic regime. Along the way, the novel explores the Stop Button problem, Hume's Guillotine, and other aspects of AGI. The novel is nearly finished.

I'm looking for alpha readers to poke some holes in the story. DM me your name and email, and I'll send you a copy.

Girding my loins to take on building and painting a couple of old MPC Millenium Falcon kits.

The building is straightforward. I will be painting them to look very much like ILM filming models and that . . . that takes a looooooooooooot of effort. You have to be in the right headspace to embark.
