It's been a while since I have been on Mac, but as others have mentioned, IMO, shortcuts are WAY better and more consistent on Mac. Honestly, once I got used to it, doing daily work on a Mac was way more pleasurable than Windows.

I love the universal colour picker that let's you save custom colours and makes them available across all applications. I have no idea why this isn't standard on Windows.

Their website seems kind of borked right now, but:
    https://www.publicspace.net/
had some great apps when I was doing research involving hundreds of thousands of newspaper articles.: mainly A Better File Renamer and The Big Mean Folder Machine

HEJ Stylus is basically a very nice Lazy Nezumi for Mac (smooths out pen strokes for art)
    https://hejstylus.com/

Forklift was my go-to dual pane Finder replacement, but Fileside lets you organise tonnes of folders if you are working with things like lots of media

For window management I used Moom, but that has probably been surpassed these days

I have the unabridged audio books and I don't know. Red Mars was great, but by the latter half of Green it really starts to chug and there are very long sections where it feels like someone just reading out an operations manual or a research paper versus telling an engaging story, which is really what science FICTION should be about.

The building is straightforward. I will be painting them to look very much like ILM filming models and that . . . that takes a looooooooooooot of effort. You have to be in the right headspace to embark.

Well, it done grabbed me good. What a cracker of a game! The upgrades and story are really, really well paced so you are rarely at a loss and something is always tantalising just out of reach. It's generally pretty chill, but no doubt there are moments of existential dread, particularly when, like yesterday, I unknowingly wandered into the Void . . .

"By nature of the relentless absurdity of existence, it wouldn't make a difference whether it ever happened or not, when all is said and done."

No, it makes absolutely no difference, cosmically, if I had ever existed.

    However:

    a) I do exist
    b) I believe/understand at some level that I exist in this scheme of things
    c) My brain cannot possibly understand the enormity of the cosmos and my place in it
    d) I can however experience and enjoy the now, despite "knowing" that I will one day die, but that concept still being alien to me
    e) I can try and bring happiness and peace to myself and those around me.

What does my head in is that we are so cosmically insignificant and have been given a chance to experience a tiny fragment of this, and so many people are utter cunts.

I worked at a games store when Gran Turismo came out. It was a in a busy pedestrian mall in the middle of the city and we had a huge rear projection screen in the front window playing the "cinema mode" playback of race.. People (most men, and mostly business men, let's face it) would literally walk past, double take, come back and just stare.

They would then come into the store, ask "What game is that?" and we would hand them a Playstation, Gran Turismo, a dual shock controller and a memory card and they would pay at the counter. I am not even kidding. It was like fish in a barrel.

The tenseness of the fights as you wait, switch stances, feel out your opponent and then STRIKE STRIKE, game over.

Or, in the case of me and a mate, me taking out his legs and him rolling around the dojo for ages as I vainly try and end him but keep missing.

Personally I don't recommend staying in Kyoto, but that's just me.

Also, most conbeni food is usually not healthy at all, unless you make a conscious decision to get salad type things, or noodles with basic dressings (not ramen). Most foods are usually high sodium and high calori.

Regardless of the quality of digital ownership, it only exists in the ether at the behest of the gatekeepers. You are paying real money for a thing that cannot be owned.

I just bound my first book. I printed out an open source RPG system in registers, folded, stitched and glued them up. Then, made a kludged version of book cloth and cut and bound the cover and attached it. End result, a one off copy.

Next stage is prepping and painting a set of classic D&D character classes for playing the RPG. Fighter, Cleric, Wizard, Thief, Elf, Dwarf, Halfing.

The problem, as I see it, is that studios and labels just fundamentally cannot, and will not, abandon the thinking that it is their duty to charge as much as they can for providing as little as they can at every single turn. If you make legitimate content fairly priced and easy to access, most people say "fair enough" and pony up. But it's just the endless, endless nickle and diming, trying to squeeze more revenue at every opportunity that just drives people to abandon morality because . . . well, are the corporations being moral? No. Well, then, fuck them.

This could clearly be seen in Australia, a country that had one of the highest piracy rates in the world due to ludicrous prices of physical media, or hamstrung by licensing deals that restricted content. When Netflix finally came up, the piracy rates fell off a cliff because it was EASY and FAIRLY PRICED. Of course, every studio now wants their own slice of the pie and Netflix jacked up the prices, so piracy is on the up again.

People aren't stupid and they know when they are being screwed, and they rightfully feel few qualms about trying to save a few bucks here, when they are being pressed on every side.
