Scheduled ~Creative weekly discussions for art and/or photos

We've been having a smattering of art, poetry, and photo participation posts, such as this, and this, and this, and this.

We seem to have enough ~tilders to have a schedule of sorts, but not enough to have each activity every week. How about we rotate weekly activities for a while and see how it goes? I'm thinking we have enough interest for a series of visual/craft based threads and a series of writing based threads. For example:

July 3-9th Photography (subject exploration or technique)
July 10-16th What are you making now?/Speedart
July 17-23rd Photography (topic or equipment)
July 24-30th What are you making now?/Media challenge

July 3-9th Freestyle Writing (up to a thousand words)
July 10-16th Themed Drabbles
July 17-23rd Poetry format challenge
July 24-30th It was a dark and stormy night

Please note that these are suggestions and not an arbitrary bid to codify content or become TEH LEADER. I just think it would be fun to have an activity to look forward to every week. We could even just sign up for hosting a week's topic, and whoever is in charge of the week picks the activity.

What does everyone think?

For photography are you thinking more discussion and learning based? I don't know much about the rules, I am reading (slowly), but would participate.

Might I suggest, like your past post, a photo competition or theme for a month with a submission day/week?

    Thank you.

As far as I know, ~creative doesn't have a stance on fan videos yet. I'm not sure what an AMV is. Can you please link some examples here so I can see what you mean?

Whoa. That takes 1337 skills. I would be happy to see videos people have made themselves, or talk about the content and techniques of videos made by people ~Tilders admire.

I know they were only suggestions, but I like the ones you put forth. I really enjoyed the photography one as an excuse to move forward with my embroidery project and document it.

How do folks feel about having themed weeks? Like nature, technology, food, people, movement, etc. A theme would create an interesting common thread for all submissions, but could be applied to basically any art form.

Or maybe even a theme per month, separate from what you've suggested? (The post would quickly disappear for people with the default activity time span, though. In fact, that happened with the last photo thread, since it lasted 7 days. I wonder if would be possible to make the default for ~creative a longer time span? Especially since we don't have a massive amount of activity at the moment...)

~creative is currently one of the not so active areas. I'm guessing it's because creating things takes a fair bit of time and emotional investment. There are many ~tilders who create, but not so much who are comfortable in exposing themselves to possible scoffing or (sometimes worse,) indifference.

I think when ~tildes has a much larger post base to look at, your suggestion will be absolutely essential. Not to "stop other people from posting their art in the main group, when it doesn't fit the theme," but just to make it easier for people to find like minded others to share with.

But right now ~creative doesn't have that much traffic. Which is why I was trying to suggest this as a stop gap measure. :) Thank you for the suggestion!

A solution I could think of is to implement that content of all subgroups are shown on the main group, depending on the activity. This would allow to already build the structure for the future and simultaniously seeing as much content as possible. Downside is that it will have to be implemented, before we could use it.
