I love my state. While other restaurants didn't go full anti-capitalism, I wanna shout out a couple other restaurants that have also done some incredible work.
Wrecktangle Pizza got a visit from ICE after raising over $80,000 for nonprofit, and the community helped fight them off their establishment. The chain proceeded to donate 1 pizza per customer order to those affected by the ICE presence in the cities.
Workhorse Coffee had a NO ICE cold brew special, with each purchase raising money for MIRAC. They were also a hub for whistle distribution, information pamphlets, and protest coordination.
Post Modern Times is doing great work, but I cannot stress how awesome almost all of the local businesses were about feeding the needy and combating ICE.
Rebes Play Cafe in St. Paul too. It’s an infant 0-3ish play space with a small cafe. They were a big distribution point for food and toys. The owner also operates a language program, Spanish and...
Rebes Play Cafe in St. Paul too. It’s an infant 0-3ish play space with a small cafe. They were a big distribution point for food and toys. The owner also operates a language program, Spanish and mandarin, that contracts with schools and private lessons, and she continued to support her staff even while they had to cancel contracts to keep them safe (keep in mind, it’s not only undocumented people that were targeted). And, the owner ran a food shelf out of her living room up until a few weeks ago.
Really, there were so many good businesses and organizations (and people) doing good work.
Edit to add: they had their front door smashed in and office rifled through the morning after a radio interview with the owner was broadcast, about supporting the community in the face of ICE.

Combine with a smaller menu and people willing to pay it forward, it makes sense I think. Idk if he's reclassed as a nfp technically or how that all works. But he's probably got a tax guy

The profits would still be taxable, and employees would still be paid.
Edit: actually, it appears that they are either trying to, or have, formally converted to a non-profit, but I can't find any details other than a mention in March that they were trying. In some ways, depending on what they're trying to convert to, that might actually cause them more problems than benefits, but it does appear they're moving that way.
