One of my favorite YouTube channels once again released a fantastic video, on making an instant "thing" peeler using high pressure steam. He doesn't go into quite as much engineering detail as he has in some of his other videos, but I still enjoyed the whole thing regardless.

This was an experiment involving a novel and therefore unproven mechanical design. That’s a big deal. The safety practices surrounding boilers and pressure vessels exist because these systems have caused many fatal accidents. I was terrified of it, and you should be too.
Pressurized steam contains an enormous amount of stored energy and can be dangerous in ways that aren’t intuitive. When hot pressurized water is suddenly released, some of it can flash into steam and expand on the order of a thousandfold. A vessel or piping failure can therefore release that energy almost instantly, causing severe scalding hazards.
