This was such a nice change of pace, seeing Claire get to actually enjoy herself the entire time while filming an episode of something, instead of her usual struggling and getting super frustrated with Gourmet Makes. I hope she really does get to guest hosts It's Alive occasionally from now on, because even though I love Brad, this was a joy to watch.

They have been feeling a bit "produced" for me. This and Brad and Chris doing Gourmet Makes have been a really enjoyable change of pace.

As interesting as gourmet makes is, I think it's kinda burned out at this point. It's just not fun seeing her melt down all the time. And the producer doesn't seem to help at all. Depending on whos perfectionism is guiding gourmet makes, it's possible to salvage the format by just dropping said perfectionism. Things don't need to be an exact replica. I also just generally enjoy the chefs (brad, claire, chris mostly) just experimenting. Doesn't need to be fermentation-focused, or replicating exactly or replicating blindly. No one needs to melt down. The strict formats aren't all that great imo.

Gourmet Makes got a bit confusing for me because sometimes she aims for a faithful representation, and sometimes she decides to avoid faithful representation and goes for a better product. Either is fine, but it makes the struggle feel somewhat artificial.

She did the Baking School in 2019 and that was a nice change of pace. I enjoy watching people who know and enjoy what they're doing just doing it, and talking about it. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKtIunYVkv_S1fOYtFjuQ3znZsSnZksyU

what a fun little episode. Crepes Suzette is the best, too. Like they said, its one of those handy dishes you can nearly finish ahead of time, then show off when everybody arrives. Instant kitchen...
