What have you been eating, drinking, and cooking?

I had two KitKats, normal one and white one yesterday. Soo good!
I'm having Lions today, peanut one and white one.
You are living the high life, my friend. All about that Nestlé I see too. I'm more of a Cadbury man myself.
Whittakers makes really good chocolate, but that's a bit highbrow if we're strictly talking readily-available-at-the checkout chocolate in which case I'd have to side with Cadbury as well.
Can't believe I wasn't able to nab myself a Cadbury Creme Egg this year! Surely that infringes my human rights?
Just a coincidence with the Nestlé, don't remember seeing any Cadbury at the store I go to. Will take a look next time. I might do some gummy bears tomorrow.
I see you've been dabbling in the white chocolate varieties. Give the white Twix a wide berth. It's really not a go-er. We also expect gummy updates tomorrow.
Ah yeah, white chocolate! Hadn't had a Twix white in a while. Great experience! :D
Edit:
If "a wide berth" is something "bad", I personally enjoyed the white Twix.
Edit2:
Ah, "give a wide berth" = "stay away from (someone or something).", I'm fine with the white Twix.
I started making bread! I followed Mark Bittman's No-Knead Bread Recipe and got some great results. It's easy, plus cheaper and better than buying from the store.
Ooh very nice! I made my first attempt at no-knead bread the other day using a recipe from red star yeast and it turned out super flat and, while edible, not what I'd call a great loaf of bread! I'll try this version here next...
Started making garlic confit every other week as a butter replacement and it’s really really good. Slots into basically any dish or just spread it on crackers/bread.
Just bake 2-3 cups of garlic cloves in 2 cups of olive oil, salt, pepper, a couple sprigs of thyme and some bay leaves for ~1 hour at 300F. Store in a jar in the fridge and it will keep for a few weeks if you are careful about double dipping.
Bought some Niabell Grapes, which is a close relative to the famous, but very rare nowadays, Concord grapes, but are grown in Central Valley California. They're really good. Part of it is the ironic novelty of having a fruit that taste like grape candy or grape soda - it's honestly quite weird, since I attribute that taste more to candy than fruit at this point. Much sweeter than normal grapes as well.
It's just about the end of season for them. Concord-like grapes are always hard to fine - they're very seasonal, and many stores just don't sell them to consumers. The usual places usually don't - I usually find them at Asian grocers, for some reason - I guess they're just more adventurous with their seasonal fruit. Grabbed these at an H-Mart.
I'm really not a fan of so called "normal" grapes, but I can eat these all day.
Mushrooms. Lots of different types of mushrooms.
It's been a wet autumn. It's been the best mushroom season of at least the last 5 years. There are so many varieties you just don't get in stores.
Food generally also tastes better when you grow/pick something yourself and don't just pick it up at the store.
I've started teaching myself a bit about baking and made this coffee cake with chocolate streusel (https://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/coffee-cake-chocolate-streusel) recipe from Bon Appetit this weekend. It turned out pretty well, I think, though I personally don't think I like chocolate in a coffee cake and would love to find a more "traditional" coffee cake recipe if anyone has a good one! Since I'm getting used to baking, I had no idea how BIG of a cake it would make, so my partner and I have a lot of eating to do over the next few days before it goes tale!
Do you have any pictures of your cake you can share?
Yeah, just grabbed one of a cross section I took a couple days ago. Let me know if this works!

Looks good!
