What do y'all think of hidden trophies?
To me, they feel kind of OP to discover if you're not a very motivated person, but I suppose that's who they're for. I did one of those trophies for Sonic Generations when I stumbled upon it online and it was to no-hit the final boss on hard mode with no add-ons (in game stuff) and I can't help but feel that there's no way I would have known that's the trophy.
I kind of don't like trophies in general. I play games for fun and trophies feel like bragging rights, and bragging about video games skills ruins video games.
On the other hand, it can be fun to try to achieve some of the more difficult ones - but it would be more fun if there was an actual incentive beyond bragging rights. Iconoclasts, for instance, has a completely optional crazy-hard boss fight, and if you win you get access to an extra story bite that fills in some details about the world it takes place in. And in other games you have to go through hard mode to trigger the "good" or "true" endings.
Hidden trophies can potentially be good things, but I think that most of them completely suck. They would be better if they would reveal themselves when you're approaching them, but just blocking out trophies that you can do at any time for no reason doesn't add any enjoyment to the game.
I like them. I feel like the key is to just not care - then they become what they should be, neat treats. It's neat to unlock a hidden trophy. Once you start googling for them then they just become normal trophies with more effort.
They give me anxiety. Not the good kind.
