Also, it's the 2020's, so it's no surprise that's also a tale of another triumph of telling lies (perhaps for narcissists reason) and getting away with it.
Also check out the comments, there's some nice nuggets in it.

Really good video from hbomberguy as always; I'm extremely curious if Tommy will respond in any way.
Also interesting to see Lindsay Ellis in the comments section; I miss her content.
She released a new video on Nebula last month. No idea if she plans on regularly producing more content there, or if it was just a one time thing though. https://nebula.tv/lindsayellis

Wow, what a rabbit hole. I grew up watching Electric Playground (especially since it aired all the time in Canada since it was one of the few Canadian-made video game things on TV at all) and Tommy Tallarico was a known name. I had no idea what kind of bullshit he was up to this whole time.
I’m mildly intrigued by this video - but before I take the plunge - is the high run time justified, or is this a case of not enough time spent on cutting down the script? I’ve started noticing...

I’ve started noticing lately that some content creators, even ones covering topics I find very intellectual engaging, can optimize for length without enough thought put into editing it down.
When you’re the only person covering a topic in depth and there are people out there very engaged with it you can get away with a lot of unnecessary runtime and people will still watch the whole thing.
It is mostly justified in this case because it's an entire breakdown of Tommy Tallarico's career which, as it turns out, is a mountain of lies higher than the Everest (the video spends its runtime...

I'll say he could have cut down the runtime if he didn't make as many jokes and punchlines as he did but if I'm being honest, those are what allowed me to sit through 2 hours of Tommy's nonsense, so I get why he kept the humor.
If it makes you feel better the video is neatly divided into sections, so you can stop at the end of one chapter and come back later if you don't have 2 whole hours. That's what I did.
I second this opinion: it could be shorter if he had stuck to just reciting the facts, but way less entertaining and memorable. The storytelling of the video is somewhat a recap of his research...

The storytelling of the video is somewhat a recap of his research and reasoning ("wait a minute, if X is true (here's the context, by the way), that means Y is not; what's the deal with Y then ?"). I find this style similar to CGP Grey's second Tiffany video. He even complains about the same thing ("this was supposed to be a short video before I got lost in the rabbit hole").
Hbomberguy is always worth it, in my opinion. He's one of the best. Though, I usually play his videos in the background while playing video games. Victoria 3 in this case. Oh, and he's also on Nebula.

It's fairly engaging all the way through. I didn't set out to watch it all in one sitting and still ended up doing just that. The story just keeps escalating.

She mentions at the end that there'll be another, but afaik she hasn't committed beyond that.
