Remnant 2 is really good. It is better than the first game in every way. Sadly, I had no one to play with. While it is very playable solo, it is significantly better if you have friends to play co-op with.

It's a challenge, it has wild secrets that range from easy to you needing to read the game code to find one.

If someone gets it and is located in or close to the EST time zone and wants to play it co-op I would love to get that setup. I played through the first game with a buddy and had a blast, but he had no interest in getting the second one.

I had never really heard of Humble Choice so I looked into it. Apparently it's $12 a month, for games you get to keep? That seems like a really good deal - too good to be true. What's the catch?

The games are random, and not always good. But it's good enough for me to subscribe, so take that with a grain of salt.

I honestly think it's the best deal in gaming. $1.50 per game is quite a steal, and the games on offer tend to be a cut above other bundle sites.

      Downsides:

      • Humble does a good job of giving a diverse spread of games each month, but this means that you're likely to only click with a few games in the bunch unless you genuinely love every genre out there. As such, you're realistically getting one or two games per month that you'd actually play, with the rest being library filler.
      • 8 games a month x 12 months = 96 games per year -- that's honestly too many games for most people if you're not skipping regularly.
      • It's a subscription rather than a-la-carte, so you do have to do subscription "management" on it (pausing and unpausing and whatnot). If you have an active subscription and you don't buy a given month's games, they will autocharge you the last week of the month for them.
      • They have an escalating discount on their store to incentivize you to not skip months. At its peak, it's great (20% off games in the Humble Store) but you have to buy twelve consecutive months to get there, and if you pause even once, you lose it. It's a bad system.

      Upsides:

      • If you ignore the discount hook, you can pause at will.
      • You can choose each month whether or not you want the games on offer. This is way better than it used to be -- it used to be a blind buy that you had to lock into before the games were revealed.
      • If you don't want some of the keys, they make great gifts to friends (or to people here during one of our game giveaways). I've given out a ton of free games to people I know (and many that I don't! 😂).
      • Usually there are one or two headliner games that are worth the $12 price tag alone. For example: the historical lows for REMNANT II, Persona 5 Strikers, and Jusant were all above $12 each before this bundle.
      • They're Steam keys, so you get the games "forever" or whatever the "forever" equivalent will be for Steam.
      • Each bundle usually surfaces one or two lesser-known but quality indie games that I wouldn't have found out about otherwise. I generally enjoy these more than the headliners, to be honest.

There's no catch. The games are (almost) always delivered as Steam keys, which yes you will keep indefinitely. Just be mindful that the service itself is billed as a subscription, so if you don't want to auto-renew you'll need to cancel the sub, or remember to "pause" it every month.

I think most people prefer to keep their accounts in a cancelled state, and then opt back in whenever they're interested in a month, and then cancel again. Without the active subscription, you do lose out on a couple perks, including a growing discount through Humble's regular storefront. But it's just a tradeoff of those perks versus the peace of mind of not having to remember an auto-renewing subscription.

Lately Humble have been revealing 1 game in advance to build hype, and the rest are revealed on the first Tuesday of each month. The subscription is automatically billed on the last Tuesday of the month. Although if you're purchasing from a new account/inactive subscription, you'll be charged immediately.

The games will vary in quality, although this month is particularly good, in my opinion. I'm definitely interested in Remnant II since I enjoyed the first quite a bit. Jusant from DON'T NOD also looks great.

Too good? A $12 bundle isn't a great deal, especially for the deliberately random array of games they get to go in on these. I got several prepaid months on a Black Friday sale a while back which brings the per-bundle price down to $7.60, and I skip most months because the bundle isn't worth it.

That's just, like, your opinion, man. Though there's certainly been some standout months, if you've got eclectic tastes there's usually at least two good picks.
