    Ah. That must be it.

I wonder what's up with Total War and its recent reviews. They are quite low. Also the difference between the critics and the Steam reviews on Paleo Pines is pretty significant.

The two games of most interest to me were unfortunately ones I already own (Etrian Odyssey and Spin Hero), but I'll get this one to keep my discount (sigh) and because the people on my library share might like some of the management titles and because I just really like collecting games so I would almost never turn one of these down.

Also, in addition to loving Proton, I once again feel obligated to shout out @talklittle, whose amazing extension makes this chart SO easy. Moving forward I'm happy to continue posting the topics, but if anyone is wanting them up closer to when the games actually get released by Humble, feel free to use the extension to post it earlier!

Right now is about as early as I can personally post them, with some days being significantly later because of work/other duties. So, y'all have my permission to post the topic sooner if you ever feel like it. As always, I feel like this post is "owned" by the Tildes community, not by me, so I won't be offended if anyone gets to it before I do.

The community is displeased with the state of the game. Since launch, TW3 has been plagued by bad performance and questionable DLC practices as CA's new approach to game releases and DLC has been deeply unpopular. Some things are still broken too, like graphical effects on DLC units from previous Total Warhammer games, three years later. They also delayed a big expansion that was supposed to come out over the summer.

It's all very disappointing because the game itself is solid, and that it folds in the previous two and all their DLC to make one absolutely massive, content-filled game is a really big selling point but the sum is less than its parts right now, to many.

There's supposed to be a major patch coming soon that will hopefully address a lot of these issues but the community doesn't seem to be holding its breath anymore.

I searched it up because I'm also curious, and it seems that on top of that, an update last month had some bad bugs that broke some enemies' AI. So players were already upset because that's a major bug that absolutely should have been caught in beta testing...

And then a major content creator for the gamr named LegendofTotalWar announced he was done with the game. And I guess that was the last straw. I didn't watch the video, but he also made this post to Youtube detailing some troubling history with Creative Assembly. Apparently he was one of the few content creators willing to call them out and criticize them, and it ended with him leaving the partnership program due to horrible treatment meant to push him out without blacklisting him. That's a highly simplified summary, and I recommend giving it a read if you're curious. It definitely doesn't paint a good picture of the company's overall practices.

Apparently there's a promotional code available, using SPOOKY25 can get you a month at $10 if you're a new subscriber.

Total War: Warhammer 3 can be a really great game. I have over a 1000 hours in it and own all the DLC, so I won't get much value out of this Humble Choice. The Total War games never stuck until they started doing Warhammer. Monsters and magic add a lot of variety to the game play and there are insane amount of races and units to be played. It has been my comfort game for a long time.

The DLC does often go on sale but you definitely don't need it to play the game and figure out if you like it before buying. The first and second game also act as DLC for this game providing the base races they came with.

That said, Creative Assembly goes back and forth between doing a great job supporting their jobs and being incredibly incompetent. There are many unfixed bugs in the game. They did a slight overhaul to two factions, which introduced a big bug that basically made those two factions brain-dead and stop making units. When it was brought to their attention they said they would fix it with their next DLC which was a month or two away. They were eventually shamed into taking faster action, which is the main reason for all the recent negative reviews.

The game will also probably stop being supported soon as they move on to their next game, but the modding community is amazing. I still think it's worth picking up, especially if you want other games in this bundle. You could easily get 100s of hours out of it.

I’ve played Etrian Odyssey(Non HD/On DS) and I was sort of not with the HD release at first due to lack of 2nd screen and the price, then I tried once playing it with controller+mouse and it actually worked pretty well to map.

I think it’s still inferior to the DS experience of playing the games, but not a terrible experience overall.

It’s the best way to play Etrian 1 due to the QoL changes though, but Etrian 1 (At least on DS) was a game I’d recommend skipping unless you have no other Etrian hame to play or can tolerate a big amount of bs/archIc design.
