Yes, I cannot forget what happened to Ensemble, Rareware, FASA, or Lionhead under Microsoft's tenure. I've learned my lesson from previous generations that just because Microsoft says something now does not mean they'll hold the same philosophy in even two years, when it comes to games.

Complicating this, writing on the wall about Obsidian has been around for the last few months as well, as Chris Avellone departed and had quite a few choice things to say about the management there. Their last few games, while good, have notably felt Avellone's departure and I can't imagine future projects will have any of his remnant influence at all. That's hard to swallow since he was a big part of the reason Obsidian even has the reputation they do now.

I think this is an intentional move on Microsoft's part, though. They've had a big push towards having all games that are available on Xbox also be available on Windows 10 as another we-need-to-push-everyone-on-to-Windows-10 method. I mean, if you look at Microsoft's website here, they even advertise which of their Xbox games are available on Windows 10 and which will be coming soon. It really seems like they're moving away from "Xbox Exclusive" and more towards "Microsoft Exclusive" nowadays.

Here's the thing, play anywhere is a good idea but I think the way they're implementing it is bad. I'm sure they could work out a system with Valve for linking Steam accounts or something, but instead the way it works is that only windows 10 users can play, there's no way to use Wine/DXVK or even just straight up Proton for linux users, and previous windows users as well can't access it. You're forced to get windows 10.

Forza just came out and as far as I know is very well received and doing great. Also I wouldn't expect to see any Xbox exclusives in the future. That's not the the thinking at Microsoft anymore, they want to release all their games on Windows and Xbox. So basically games will be exclusive to Microsoft instead of just the Xbox.

Yeah, I'm a PC gamer but either way Sony is stomping MS this generation. Sea of Thieves is also on PC as far as I know, so not a full exclusive either.

Forza Horizon 4 is on PC as well, there aren't many games exclusive to only Xbox One. This seems like a pretty good list: https://gematsu.com/exclusives/xbox-one

Yeah, most full exclusives are just small things nobody would ever think of in a discussion about exclusives. Halo 5 is the only big exclusive I can think of, and even then snippets are on PC.

It helps that there's a PC version released alongside and they seem to have taken the last game's PC issues on launch to heart and fixed them.

Yup, there are two Forza series! Morotsport and Horizon. This is the latest entry of the Forza Horizon open-world spinoff series.

Little bit of history: The Forza Motorsport main series is made by Turn 10 Studios while Forza Horizon series started after Forza Motorsport 4 came out, made by Playground Games. Playground Games is made up of racing developers from a bunch of other notable arcade racing game developers, so they know what's what when it comes to arcade and sim-arcade racing game. Microsoft bought the studio only this year, after three highly successful games (and apparently a fourth one that was just about done at the time).

They're not exactly the same kinds of games as the Motorsport line and are far more casual friendly. They're great if you want to have a somewhat realistic driving experience in a big open facsimile of an interesting locale.

It would appear that Microsoft is trying so hard to copy Nintendo's success that they are even trying to copy their habit of confusing naming schemes.
