Any Star Citizen players here?
I had a vasectomy this week and needed something to do for a few days while I was down. A co-worker recommended star citizen (explaining the caveats). I love it so far, and if anyone here plays I'd love to add you to my friends list.
My username is Grendel_84
I check it out every year or two to see where it's at. As an Elite Dangerous player, the flight model in Star Citizen always takes some getting used to, but the game seems to be improving. Unfortunately, I've never been able to play it at a reasonable framerate so I can't say much else.
There's a lot of pessimism about the game, and do I share in some of it, but as a space sim fan I do hope it turns out to be good in the end.
Yes! Feel free to add me (same username as here). I have a small org that has players on pretty regularly. We have a good mix of ships and do many things: mining, bounty hunting, pvp, etc.
I've been following the game and playing on and off since 2013. Let me know if you have any questions about how to do anything or find something.
Thanks! is there a certain time that your group typically meets? I haven't had the chance yet to do a mission with other people yet.
We typically play starting between 8-9 EDT, though there haven't been a lot of us on lately, since we played a ton during one of the recent events. Usually there's still one or two around though.
I actually just played it for the first time. They're having a free fly event starting 9/20 and ending one week later on 9/27.
It's buggy and even with a fairly high end computer there was lots of frame rate issues, but I'll be damned if isn't highly detailed and visually impressive. From the point my character woke up in their apartment, it probably took me a good hour and a half to actually start flying because everything about how you interact with the world is so different from what I'm used to with relatively simple space sims. Honestly not sure what the actual gameplay is like yet, but I can see why people are hopeful for the future with this amount of attention to detail.
If you have any questions, let me know. I'd be happy to show you around.
Yeah it took me a while to get flying too.
A word of advice:
Get off of the Cities on the planets. Go to a small space station, the frame rate is much better there. Once you request landing somewhere that becomes your new spawn point, and it will play more smoothly when you load in.
Also it's quicker and easier to get to your ship and get flying from the space stations because they are smaller than the cities.
My favorite place to go is called GrimHex. It's a criminal outpost located on an asteroid, it's a really cool location! You can even get illegal missions there, like drug running or hit jobs (just be careful not to end up in jail)
Star Citizen player here. "Cord". I'm nearly broke. I play occasionally. As I describe it to people, I love the game and I hate the game. It's a hot mess but it's amazing.
