Two Beat Saber updates. First one for my fellow Oculus Quest 2 owners (@kfwyre!): While going through Oculus' support system, I noticed there is a support section for people experiencing skin/allergic reactions to what they call the "Quest 2 facial interface" (the foam protection).

I do have that issue: My skin gets irritated and even cracked the next day unless I take extreme care. So I went through the support system. I had to go through a bit of a questionnaire and send a couple of photos, but they did say they're sending me an alternative facial interface (for free), one which is anti-fog and anti-sweat and made of a different texture. I'm receiving it next week, excited to try it.

Anyway, video update this time is POP/STARS by K/DA (120% speed). What a fun song! Very frustrating beginning to it, I keep missing very specific blocks. Most of the rest of the song feels easy, and a very fun end section. I'm not super into k-pop but I kind of wish there was a bit more of it on BS, it's a perfect genre to play on.

I have very few songs remaining to do on Expert+. I have yet to purchase the BTS pack, so I have that to look forward to. Aside from that there's Overkill which is the only one of the lot I've completed Expert+ without faster mode (gfl with that), two songs from Linkin Park, Fitbeat, and the entire Camellia pack (holy shit, it's difficult enough on regular speed -- I almost managed What The Cat on Expert Fast the other day).

I went back and tried some Expert songs and for most of the ones I hop on to, I usually end up with maybe 1-3 misses per songs, even on ones I've not ever played. I still can't believe the skill progression in this game. I guess it's not that different to a skill progression in any other video game, but it being physical makes it so alien to me.

Pretty cool that Oculus are sending you an alternative face interface. I had a similar reaction to the face padding on my Vive when I first got it. I don't think it was so much an allergic reaction as the Vive just being heavy, and the foam being rather coarse, so playing for any extended period would rub my face raw. I wound up buying a "hygiene" cover for it from vrcover, and it was well worth it and made my experience much more enjoyable from then on. Especially since the default Vive foam would also get pretty disgustingly sweaty and gross after a while of playing, but the vrcover is easy to wipe off quickly mid-play, and also easy to sterilize too.

Yes same here, it's not so much an allergic reaction but the quest 2 gets so sweaty and the foam rubs against the skin. I'm looking forward to the replacement cover.

Similar to @cfabbro, I got a silicone cover for mine. It wasn't because I was having any sort of skin reaction (though honestly I didn't wear it long enough uncovered to find out if I would have). Instead, I snagged a cover because I was so grossed out that my sweat was absorbing into the foam and pictured my headset getting very disgusting, very quickly. The silicone makes it very easy to wipe down and clean.

Good god they released an update with a "super fast" 150% speed mode. Anyway in unrelated news, I can't feel my left arm anymore.

Randomly pulled my hamstring last Saturday and it hurt like crazy! I didn't do anything weird I don't think, it just felt like it "went" when I was doing a split squat. On Wednesday I was able to do normal squats at a reduced weight, but I've been taking it easy otherwise. I think I'll be back to 100% by tomorrow, I feel 90% today.

Maintaining the same basic routine I have been. Though, I've been trying to work on my kettlebell swing form. I realize I've been doing more of a "squat swing" for the past few months, so I've been trying to correct that the last couple of weeks. Here's a good tutorial, if anyone else is having issues.

Also, my damn left elbow is starting to ache. Of course, I plan on being an idiot and training through the pain.

Just a note about kettlebells... The effective force of a kettlebell during the downswing is many times greater than the weight of the kettlebell. A lot of that can be transferred into your joints...

As someone who used to teach kettlebell classes I highly don't recommend training through joint (or back) pain.

I also found myself more naturally doing a "squat swing" than a proper swing when I started training with kettlebells. They are a lot easier when you do them properly!
