Vegetarians/Vegans?
So how many of us are vegetarian/vegan? Was it for environmental/health/moral reasons? How long have you been vegetarian/vegan?

Hey everyone,
Whether it be yoga, weightlifting, swimming, climbing, cycling, bjj, or any physical activity, we can all gain from each other's experiences by sharing below. Please feel free to post your exercise routines, workout plans, nutritional information, progress and any relative thoughts.
Oh, and happy Sunday all!
I've noticed a lot of people in introductory threads mentioning their mental health issues and a sizeable number of people who took the survey indicated they consider themselves mentally ill. I myself have been dealing with depression for about 16 years.
Without a search function it's hard to tell if this is a repost, but I figured I'd give it a go and see if anyone out there is in need of some support. If you need someone to talk to, consider this thread a support group and I will be here to lean on. :)
Seems like a slightly less douchey cigarette alternative. Anyone have any success changing their habits? Or is this just a newer dumber douche flute with silly flavors?
Are you heading out into the Sierras? Hiking the Te Araroa trail? Or heading out somewhere for the weekend? Tell us about it! What gear are you using?
So I'm a teen and am starting a new school next year. I get a 12 week break so would really like to try and get in shape, mainly to boost self confidence. What types of exercise / diet would people recommend?
I don't think I'd ever get skinny but I'd I could swap out some fat for muscle that would be fantastic!
Hey folks, so I've worked nights for the last two years and it sucked. flat out sucked. I would average 4-5 hours of sleep before and after a shift and now I've moved to afternoons (3pm-10pm) I find my body still thinks 5ish hours is great.
Often I wake in the middle of the night and then that's it. I'm up. it truly sucks. anyone got advice on how I can change this? I've been on afternoons for a little over a month now, so could it be more I'm still adjusting? appreciate any help and advice.
edit ** thank you all for the advice. I will have to work out a routine and make sure to sick to it, then just not get too down when only making small steps.
I'd love to see some sort of recovery support here; my experience with online communities has been invaluable as I've figured out what works and what doesn't.
Do you ever do something like jumping on a trampoline for a long amount of time, than later at night you feel like your doing said motion again?
One of the stress points that seems increasingly correlated with modernity is a rise of obesity in many developed nations (most notably the United States, but also the United Kingdom, Canada, China, Mexico, and elsewhere). Japan instituted a fat tax that requires periodic weight measurements as a way to combat obesity. Denmark and India have taxed certain foods. New York City, while Michael Bloomberg was mayor, famously taxed soda as part of a policy package to address weight gains.
Meanwhile, groups have organized to attempt to reduce the amount of stigma associated with being fat, arguing that stigmatizing obesity and arguing for aggressive dietary change often creates runoff mental health issues among fat people, or worse that doctors' obsession with weight blinds them to other more serious health issues whose symptoms are being reported by fat patients.
This question is for everyone hailing from a nation dealing with some form of rise in obesity: What is the right balance to strike with public policy when it comes to dealing with the rise of obesity?
I've recently started exercising pretty much every day for health & mental-health reasons. I've been running 3 times a week (I'm doing a couch-to-5K plan, which I would highly recommend), hiking once or twice a week, and usually taking walks the other days. Overall its really improved my mood and energy levels.
What does everyone else do to stay active?
