Feifel's our favorite dude (don't tell the other cat), so we're willing to shell out a little more to keep him healthy.

Some cats (more often male, though I've had a female cat with the problem) are just genetically prone to getting the urinary crystals that cause hematuria. Wet food, plenty of fresh water, and available litter box space to allow frequent urination can help.

Feifel is a fantastic name for a cat who looks like he's got ample dude-itude.

Oh, there's so much dude-i-tude with this cuddly rascal. The only challenge is that hunting voles doesn't jive with my mostly indoor cat living recommendation

My wife got me 3 pet mice back in January and while I'm heart broken by how much they hate being handled, I do enjoy talking to them like a lunatic through the glass. We haven't really settled on names for them somehow. We've tried a few and nothing seems to stick. So for now it's simply "the mouse girls"

Is there a recommended progression you can follow to get them comfortable with being handled? I know it's always easier if you have access to them shortly after they were first born, but I wonder if it's possible later. My daughter had a few litters of fancy rats (I realize, possibly quite different than mice) and I recall her being very careful to spend time handling the pups early on so that they would be easier to handle later. (I also learned my lesson by ignoring her warning to separate the mother before handling the babies. Wow, mama rats don't play around and I got a nasty puncture-wound bite.)

Yeah you're supposed to start very slow by luring them into your hand with a treat and then slowly building up from there until they're comfortable being picked up. But they just never really got to that point before I had to start doing weekly cleanings of the tank, which requires them to be removed from the tank. I don't know if scooping them up rapidly to place them in a holding tank is necessarily traumatizing, but I can't imagine it's helping.

By comparison, I had a pet male mouse many moons ago and he was immediately very okay with being held and I'd let him roam around my desk freely here and there. But according to the pet mouse subreddit it's evidently fairly common for some mice to just not be into being handled at all.

She definitely has an attitude, but she's such a sweet cat. Since I brought her home last January, she hasn't bit, scratched, or even hissed at me in anger.

Yulin is a beauty, and clearly knows it. Plus she's got tortie-tude.

She definitely has an attitude, but she's such a sweet cat. Since I brought her home last January, she hasn't bit, scratched, or even hissed at me in anger. But she regularly hissed at other cats at the shelter to the point where the shelter worker grabbed another cat and brought it near her to demonstrate. I think she's grateful to be away from the chaos.

LOL, yeah, corgis aren't exactly known for their jumping height. :P Although despite their stubby little legs, they can still be surprisingly fast+agile!

This Kitty does not like to be in boots, but bags, now that's the way, every new bag in the apartment gets to be sat on. https://drive.proton.me/urls/2F6W6GAET0#-9erjioPQc1s
