Dentist prank advice
I have a dentist appointment coming up. It's on April 1st, which in the US is sometimes known as April Fool's Day. Last year when I made the appointment, I was joking with them that I was going to have to play some kind of a prank since it's going to be April 1st. So I feel like I need to follow through on that, but I'm coming up short on ideas. I did some looking online, but most of the pranks are the dentist playing pranks on the patients, not the other way around. There is this one, but I'm not sure that I can pull that off. I thought I'd see if any of you Tilderitos have any ideas.
Simple, but show up with some of those vampire teeth, sneakily slip them in as you're sitting down in the chair?
This is good. I might either go with this or get a fake tooth and spit it out in the cup when they tell me to rinse.
I would caution that whatever you choose, make sure it's truly something very benign that they can laugh at too. I think a large portion of prank culture is cruelty or bullying disguised as humor and assumed harmless. A lot of pranks are "laughing at" instead of "with". Make sure the prank invites them and accepts them into the joy rather than separating them from it.
There are a lot of situations where an unexamined prank seems funny or like a good idea but puts the other person in a very awkward social situation or position and in a way that makes them feel bad, even if they hide it. Taking extra care when you're doing this to someone you're trusting to provide medical (or similar professional) care seems wise.
Given at least a couple of comments on that video I came away with an impression it might have not gone well. To reiterate one of the comments, if you pull a prank and you're the only one laughing or enjoying the moment, there's a good chance it's not a pleasant experience for the receiver.
Sorry, don't mean to preach but I've seen it a lot of times and have been on the receiving end some of those times and so I felt compelled to speak
Although that video is likely staged, you make a great point, and this highlights why the dog jaw prank is not a good. It should be something at my expense, not theirs. Thanks for the reality check.
I have a few ideas...
Assuming you normally get your teeth examined in your mouth I suggest getting a full set of dentures in a box and ask the dentist if they can examine those while you head out for a quick errand?
Hide something under your tongue?
Depending on your gag-reflex you could tie something small to one end of dental floss, swallow it and attach the other end between two teeth like you just flossed your teeth and got a bit of floss stuck, and let the dentist find it!
Or just any non dentist related (practical) joke?
How about sneaking in 5-6 extra people into the waiting room and everyone trying to get into the appointment when your name is called?
I would like to add: it is a bit of a risky endeavour since you're just a person while they are also professionals that can't as easily back out of an uncomfortable situation, so I think you should be mindful of that too (I was not when having my ideas!).
My dentist is too small and personal a place for the 6 people prank (them know me by sight), but I like it.
They said you sound like an owl is probably one of my favorites, but I'm not sure it will be obviously an April Fools joke
Have all your teeth replaced with veneers at another dentist, feign ignorance when your X-rays come back completely different.
