These questions are basically what the video is about. Rediscovering ET and discussing why it hasn't come back with the rest of 80's nostalgia as heavily. One of the assertions is that the overwhelming sincerity of emotions involved with ET is probably the reason why, and also it's so sincere that you're either going to be okay with the uncomfortable emotions or you're going to find it deeply cringe.

Just a note to anyone that goes to sign up: I can't tell if this was a dark pattern, a bug, or something specific to my setup/experience, but I had selected the HD Annual plan, created username/password, and once I got to the next page with payment information it changed the plan automatically to 4K Annual (which is 4x more expensive) without my consent, and I almost signed up for the wrong plan because of this. Had to click change subscription plan to switch it back to HD Annual before completing.
I've been meaning to try CS/Nebula out, this was a good reminder to give it a shot.

Im not gonna watch the video, because I ain’t paying for that.
But who actually think E.T is a cringe fest?
Or that it’s like an underrated Spielberg?

She also says that it's Spielberg's best movie.

That's a great tip, thanks. I miss watching Lindsay Ellis videos but I'm wondering if I'd watch much else on a regular basis.
There is a promo available at the end of this video.
