Sad to see someone pass, but the whole super size me accuracy issues has been known for a long long time, and I really still hate how people take documentaries as if they're well researched scientific papers with multiple proofs or something.

A lot of terrible misinformation or bad arguments get spread because of it, and it's very frustrating.

Was it known that he was on death's door? I'd been seeing a lot of "content" about how Super Size Me was complete bullshit and everything in it was a lie, so it wasn't too surprising to see his name in the news, although it was a bit of a surprise to see that he had actually just died. So I'm curious if there was a link.

From what I know anyway, there was a lot of omitted information in Super Size Me. Not necessarily that all of it was bullshit, but that the filmmakers had left a lot out. I think one of the theories was that Spurlock would eat a lot more than he was leading on in the footage. Spurlock also had a drinking problem that he hid, which is why his post experiment blood work came back he had an increase in those liver enzymes.

I didn't follow him too closely, but I wouldn't be shocked if he announced cancer somewhere on social media, and that's what ignited the whole SuperSize me debunking (again, I don't know. This was the first time I thought about Morgan since grade school).

Has cancer, people find out he was an alcoholic during an experiment a whole generation watched in school, people link it to liver cancer (note: I haven't see any official confirmation on what cancer it was), another reason for some internet denizens to feel morally superior.

Very unfortunate, but not surprising at this point.

The alcohol abuse came out in 2017 around the time of his sequel movie being made. And I'm sure that had some impact on the dialogue about the original film. As did Morgan Spurlock disclosing he was "part of the problem" when it came to sexual misconduct leasing to the second movie dropping in 2019 instead.

I was a fan of his 30 Days show, though I suspect it hasn't aged well so I likely won't try to revisit it. But I remember it much more fondly than Supersize Me, and I think that movie should be criticized for the dishonesty about his health if nothing else.

Cancer sucks, regardless. Even if alcoholism contributed, that's also a disease. Hope he's at peace.

There has been a lot of negative talk about that film for the last couple of months for some reason. I can't help but feel that in some cosmic way the negativity is what ended up killing the man. I for one would like to give him the benefit of the doubt about the alcoholism thing, but news of his death has basically ruined internet search right now.

Well, just like you, I was seeing them before he died. Not sure how that retroactively makes them meanhearted.
