Good. Better late than garbage.
Hopefully they can salvage it. Rogue One is a shocking example of a film that supposedly sucked in early screenings, and then got edited into something better (which...doesn't quite track with some of what I heard, but I can pinpoint at least one garbage scene that probably surrived from the first edit).
More often though the re-edits/re-shoots to save things are just sunk cost issues. Not sure that's actually what's happening of course, but if it is it doesn't bode well.
That said them ripping stuff off the calendar might be a good sign? The key to making this marvel thing work was having a few key characters who got half decent standalone films/shows AND the big movie (and hell hulk didn't even get his own, which was fine).
They've bloated the cast SO much and so aimlessly that mixed with all the Kang issues, it might be a good idea to prune and start fresh. They clearly had something solid in mind by the end of Endgame, but that's LOOOOONG gone and now they're obviously scrambling. Don't know if it's just producer/idea/money guy meddling or if they just lost the touch, but it's kinda funny when you look at WB screwing up repeatedly in the exact same way.
Another example might be the recent Daredevil show, which was sounding pretty terrible until they completely retooled it in reshoots.
Interesting. I have heard the show is still awful, but I've not looked into it.
That's not at all a thing I've heard outside certain corners of the internet that just hate everything.
This right here. Frankly, I loved it.
It gave me more of what the Netflix series offered up (which was great), and in a way, did the 'city as a character' thing better than I've seen Batman do with Gotham in a long time.
That mix of superhero show meets NYPD Blue meets HBO's Oz is what I'm here for and I hope we get more of it.
Wait, how is it like Oz? That sounds impossible.
Hah, I just mean that the grit of the drama and the violence (when they choose to use it) is there. There are zero gang crucifictions or soap drops in case you're wondering.
Glad you remember Oz. It's an often forgotten contributor to the golden age of TV.
I wouldn't really know. This is just from friends who were fans of the original series. I've asked them not to spoil anything so all i've gotten is "not worth your time".
As a big Netflix Daredevil fan, it’s decidedly not awful. The tone and style is certainly different, and it takes a while for Matt to don the suit, but I really enjoyed it. I was worried it wouldn’t be violent since it’s Disney now, but it shockingly ended up more violent than the original in some ways.
If you liked S1 or S3 of the Netflix version, Born Again is worth a try.
If only started filming very recently so comparisons to Rogue One seem premature. It's an interesting change, sure.
I'm curious which scene you have in mind?

Given the very well executed and grounded tone of the rest of the movie "plucky young hero tells a bunch of serious revolutionaries how to do their job to upbeat symphony" felt wildly out of wack.
It's a bunch of characters who feel like they're forced to be stupid because they want to give the protagonist a speech that the movie hasn't justified her giving really. My understanding is some of this makes a lot more sense in the original cut because we'd spent more time with various parts of this group so it didn't feel so out of place, but this was a huge eye roll scene for me.
After watching Andor, I wish the movie focused more on him and less on Jyn, and I could see him giving some kind of fiery version of this by the end of his arc.
Hulk did have his own MCU movie. Just not with Mark Ruffalo.
Yes and no. It's technically part of it but also basically predates the real project kicked off by iron man and was sorta retroactively shoved in. It matters the least of the supposed standalones, and they never bothered to make one for a reason.
That's the Ang Lee movie. The Ed Norton movie was after Iron Man and had the first aftercredits cameo, of Tony Stark meeting General Ross.
There were rights issues with Universal that prevented a proper MCU Hulk standalone. The contractual workaround I believe was that he was allowed to be in movies if he wasn’t the main character. Thats why they could crib a bit from the Planet Hulk story in Thor: Ragnarok.
Ahhh i didn't know that. Then that kinda invalidates my point. I thought it might have actually been an understanding of restraint and how to use these "all or nothing" characters but that does track better with how hollywood handles things.
Beyond the rights issue mentioned by others, there's also this

Which scene are you thinking of? I watched it today so it's fresh in my mind.
