How about Firefly: Next Generation? Although it should be a TV series.

They could have actual Asian characters, since they are supposed to be half the population of the verse.

It's almost certainly going to be delayed. If I catch COVID, I'm going to request an early showing of it before I die.

    I'm very hyped.

While you're waiting try to see if you can find a copy of Dune: The Alternative Edition Redux, a fanedit by a chap called Spicediver. It's significantly different to the edit(s) which were released of Lynch's film. Makes a LOT more sense and is allegedly based on Lynch's shooting script. Runs to three hours! But it's well worth it.

When Superheroes visit you in hospital, it's not good.

In general people seem to dislike it. It depends on which edit they saw, there's one directed by Allen Smithee which is a cut for TV, makes no sense at all and is terrible. The theatrical release which carries Lynch's name is better, but even that is nowhere near the film he shot. The story goes that he made a three hour film (the fanedit I mention a few comments up is probably the closest we'll ever see to that version) and the studio leaned heavily on him to cut it to 90 minutes. You can't take out half a film and still have it be as good, especially if you're David Lynch.

Personally I like the Lynch film. I saw it before I read the book as well, but even after reading all the books multiple times I still enjoy it. The film I go back to is the fanedit though. All the style and a lot more substance.

The best film version will always be the greatest film never made, Dune by Alejandro Jodorowsky, from which a lot of design and concept work made it into Lynch's film and Villeneuve absolutely knows all about as well. It's one of the most influential films in modern move making and it was never even shot!

Cover new ground with the Avatar Franchise. Either adapting the Kyoshi novels, or the Avatar after Wan, (Avatar Tu?) or a crazy cyberpunk future Avatar world.

I wouldn't mind a sequel or a prequel for Inception. But it would have to be really good.

Paprika by Satoshi Kon was much of Inception's inspiration, so I guess you could say it's a spiritual prequel. It is really good, I highly recommend if you haven't seen it.

Remake of Babylon 5. It'd be difficult to find a cast that would have the same chemistry though.

Isn't it kind of weird to remake a TV series? Would each episode get remade or would it just be the same premise but with different episodes?

BSG is a pretty dramatic example though. My personal preference for a B5 update would be to keep the overall plot, most of the characters, and update the writing a bit to use the more modern style that is less episodic. The monster-of-the-week formula is very heavy in the first season, and doesn't really need to be IMO. A lot more could be done with set and location design than they could ever have accomplished with the CGI at the time too.

I want to see Invasion of the Body Snatchers mixed with The Thing and Parasyte, but make the aliens more clandestine and follow a group of people who may or may not be an intruder at any time. I wrote a pilot for this and gave it to a producer I’d worked with when I was an office PA, and it has been in script limbo for 10 years (so it’ll probably never get made, but it also means they didn’t hate it enough to scrap it). At this point I don’t care if someone steals that idea, I’d watch the hell out of it.
