What have you been listening to this week?
What have you been listening to this week? You don't need to do a 6000 word review if you don't want to, but please write something! If you've just picked up some music, please update on that as well, we'd love to see your hauls :)
Feel free to give recs or discuss anything about each others' listening habits.
You can make a chart if you use last.fm:

Been really into grunge music lately. Don't know why, but it's been hitting the spot for me. Lots of Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots. I've also been on a big Green Day kick (not grunge, but their late 90s/early 2000s stuff is scratching the itch!)
Same! I’m usually in a grunge mood some in the spring, but this year it’s hitting me extra hard.
Just watched the whole Alice In Chains MTV unplugged tonight
Taylor Swift's entire discography... Twice.
I was listening to Red with my daughter earlier this week.
I'm curious what your favorite songs or albums were? Any takeaways from the bugger picture?
Thanks for asking! A little bit of context is that I recently "re-discovered" Taylor after listening to a cover of an older song of hers in Lindsey Stirling's discography. Safe to say, I've listened to her discography 4+ times since then, partly due to the way I "consume" music. That is, when I want to listen to an artist, I always listen to a playlist of their entire discography, minus "live" editions and remixes.
Though I like all of her albums a lot, with the exception of the first one (the self-titled one), I'd say that "Midnights" and "Lover" are my "S-tier" albums, with "1989", "Folklore", and "Reputation" following. Seeing the different "styles" and "vibes" of each album is definitely quite interesting, and I'm looking forward to seeing what her new album coming this week has to offer.
My main takeaway is that I can enjoy her music even though I don't necessarily relate to the majority of her lyrics — and when I do relate to them, it's quite often a "paraphrased meaning" that was not inherently her original intention, but is instead taken out of context based on my personal experiences et cetera.
Interestingly, I've been more of a metalhead for most of my life, but I appreciate good artists in most other genres whenever I'm into their personal style(s).
All of Carcass' discography.
I'm seeing them live in two weeks on a festival here in Brazil. Mercyful Fate too!
I just missed them here in New Zealand, I didn't even know they were here. Luckily a friend went and scored me a tour shirt.
During my workdays, I spend a decent amount of time in my plex library, but some days when I want to focus I do the lo-fi type mixes on Youtube. But this week I've spent most of the time re-listening to World of Warcraft zone music.

Pretty crazy stuff.
I met up with a couple of uni friends the other night for pizza and a catch up and we started chatting about great metal albums and we settled on The Blackening being Machine Heads best and one of the best metal albums of all time. So naturally, I've been listening to it a bit since then, such an incredible album,
I love that album, it's the one that got me into Machine Head. There isn't a skippable song on it! I learned to play some of the tracks as a teen, and Aesthetics of Hate, Halo, and Slanderous still all remain in heavy rotation while I'm jamming.
Halo might be, in my opinion, one of the greatest metal songs ever written, it's so good.
EP, Unreal Earth: Unheard by Hozier
Album, A Hometown Odyssey by Livingston
Single, Overcompensate: TwentyOnePilots
I'm now into month three of almost exclusive King Diamond territory. I can't stop. I've been scrobbling my tracks on last.fm since 2009 and King Diamond is now #3 on my all-time artists (Mercyful Fate is #6).
I've been stuck on The Graveyard, Voodoo, and House Of God albums.
You can't go wrong there.
I've been spinning a lot of Postmodern Jukebox for background music purposes. It's funky and fun without being too distracting. The real winner has been Eye to the Ear by Cosmo Sheldrake though. It only came out on Friday and I've had it on a constant loop since.
Castle Rat just put out an album today. I've been listening to the singles most of the week. I'm not sure how Doom Metal it is since I've never really ventured into the genre, but that's what I've seen them referenced as.
Bandcamp
Too Real - Crypt of the Necrodancer and Hatsune Miku collaboration
Been on a Dance Gavin Dance streak this week, I usually just start a radio based on a couple different songs and work for a couple hours.
I've been digging on Jade Bird and this crazy awesome Americana Album "Memories and Moments" by Tim O'Brian and Darryl Scott. Magnificent
I haven't been listening to much music in the past month, at least not purposefully. This week I have been listening to Brandish 3: Spirit of Balcan.
Also the soundtrack to Metallic Rouge is so good that I sometimes wish that the characters would just shut up and chill; it might actually be the best part of it. I usually don't care much for anime OPs, but this one has an infectious nostalgic charm to it. I may end up buying the album.
The new Vazio álbum.
