This week's album and EP releases
Here's a list of a lot of things that came out in this past week, including many which are set to release on Friday. Of course, there's no way to be completely comprehensive with this and I avoided including things where information was too lacking, so feel free to mention anything that isn't on here that you think is worth mentioning. Beyond that, if you have any thoughts of any of these albums, it would be great to hear them :)
(oh and don't bully me for the genre tags, a lot of these things have very limited resources available and I couldn't individually listen to everything and determine what fits best, so I'm pulling from third parties and an artist's past work a lot of the time)
Thanks to @Cleb for the help again and @cfabbro for grabbing the song.link urls!

Listened to Pivot Gang's new release this morning. Saba put out my AOTY in 2018, and the group have been putting out solid singles. The album was worth listening to, but seemed to go for harder, more mainstream beats, rather than the looser sound that I love about their other work. Still, a fun listen. They're young guys and they've got a lot of heart. The Chigaco scene has been booming lately, definitely one to watch.
Kevin Abstract isn't on the list yet, but he's been gradually releasing an album each week - three songs each week. The six songs so far have just been getting better and better. He's definitely the core of the Brockhampton project, he's developing a really interesting fusion of indie and hip hop. It doesn't always work, but it's always worth hearing. I also love the idea of an album coming together in parts, it's like a TV series of something, growing each time. Haven't come across that before.
I don't know if it's the same for others, but some of the links are not working on mobile (it goes to
about:blank#blocked
instead of a valid url).Edit - The Pierre Bourne song accidentally links to the thread itself.
Should be fixed now, a lot of loose brackets got in there somehow :P
Oh, oops... At one point I did a find/replace on
Song.link
>[Song.link
since I forgot the opening bracket initially when writing the markdown, and that inadvertently added it to all the links too since I forgot to enable "Match Case" first. And I missed Pi'erre Bourne entirely somehow, but Whom seems to have fixed that now.
Sorry about all that.
p.s. And since we're mired in the meta already... For those interested, I made a Gitlab suggestion related to topic collaboration like this to make it easier in the future: Allow users to collaborate on topic text posts (e.g. add permissions for multiple users to edit them)
I will prob make a ~tildes topic on it at some point to get people's ideas related to that, too.
The first few seem to have wrong links, I have the same issue
Thanks as always! Nothing especially jumps out at me this week for artists that I already know, but there are a few that I'll definitely try out.
Also, I mentioned it in last week's post, but you had Mystery Skulls - Back to Life listed in there, and it actually just came out today (so could be moved to this list instead).
haha tech9 has a new album? Thanks for these lists tildes is my only source of new music :)
That's the one that really surprised me... largely because I didn't realize Raffi was even still alive, since I haven't listened to him since I was a youngin' myself. :P The fact he is 71 years old and still producing wholesome children's music is awesome!
Just wanted to chime in and say that Diane Coffee - Internet Arms (Song.link) is really good. If you like Art Pop I highly recommend checking it out.
Also their NPR Tiny Desk Concert (that Amarok posted yesterday) is really amazing and well worth checking out as well, especially if you have never heard the band before:
