In a similar vein, Postal Service - Such Great Heights is more upbeat and less moody than your list, but it also catches that whiff of melancholy mingled with hope for renewal/reconnection that really screams "autumn" to me.

And there is an Iron and Wine cover if you want it acoustic and moody.

Also, the Seu Jorge soundtrack to The Life Aquatic is great. It's all acoustic guitar David Bowie covers in Portuguese.

It’s also a great example of the Circle of Fifths, which really helped my understanding of music theory.

And probably one of the most played tunes on guitar. Just started working on a chord-melody version today, myself. Gotta give it up for the Cannonball/Miles version.

R.E.M.'s Automatic For The People - a pretty obvious choice. An popular modern classic that surrounds itself with death and mortality, but with a real hum of optimism. Probably the quintessential western Autumnal album, it's hard to place it with any other season with it's twangy acoustic guitars and orchestration. The woodwind section in Nightswimming is the soundtrack to a warm, decaying autumn night.

The Microphone's Glow Pt. 2 - Mentioned earlier on in the thread. Similar reasons to Automatic, thick melancholy and acoustic instrumentation. The drone between tracks, if nothing else, feels like Winter approaching. The lo-fi production invokes a crunchiness of fallen leaves.

Mark Hollis's 'Mark Hollis' - Lesser known than his work with Talk Talk, but just as strong. Could be the most gentle album you've ever heard. Despite 'The Colour of Spring' being the first track, the entire album definitely has a chill bite to it. There's soft woodwind and brass sections throughout, which really bring out the autumnal vibes.

D'Agenlo's Voodoo - I can't really explain this one, but I always associate it with October weather. It's like a muted summer album, that's less feel-good and more feeelin' good. It's for listening while walking through the city with the jacket you've just unearthed from the closet. It's for bringing its smooth warmth indoors when the nights are getting cooler.

Art Blakey's Moanin' - A jazz classic that's all Blue Note. There's such a crunchiness and closeness to the whole record, it's like you're in a thich, cramped jazz bar. Yet it's not claustrophobic at all - the opposite - it's a metropolitan record that places you right into October New Jersey streets in the 1950s.

I always felt like it was a wintery album, really. Same with Agalloch if you've heard of them - in fairness, they do have a song called Falling Snow :P

Aww man, this album and this song in particular is just amazing. I agree the tone of the music (and the title of course) makes me feel the autumn coming.

The first thing that came to mind were the Harry Potter soundtracks. A close second would be Wake Me Up When September Ends by Green Day.

Anyway, it's a damn fantastic album.

Oh, yea. Even though there's still a pervasive melancholy in Cerulean, it's nowhere near as dark as Obsidian.

It's crazy how he whipped back to a more cute sound with Romaplasm as well-- I feel it's kind of the synthesis of Cerulean and Obsidian.

It's a rather banal choice for a Russian, but “Ósienj” (“Autumn”) by the Russian band DDT. Bonus track: a cover by Hatsune Miku.

Just because I was once listening to this on a particularly nice drive on a chilly autumn day, the sun low in the sky, with fallen leaves swirling around the car in the wind - Marz by John Grant

So glad to see another John Grant fan! Pale Green Ghosts has a darkly autumnal feel to it, he makes great "dark season" music.

The Night in the Woods Soundtrack was my new go to for autumn music, but I kinda have the feeling it's not going to have a lot of play this season... Some of you guys have some great suggestions,...

When October Goes, lyrics by Johnny Mercer and music by Barry Manilow. It's a melancholy song about endings, perfect for this time of year.

I honestly think the laziest answer to this question would be L'autunno from Antonio Vivaldi's Le quattro stagioni.
