Not even a day after IDF units attacked a group of diplomats in the West Bank... This may really escalate and hurt any communicative efforts for help. (Not trying to talk over one act of violence with another, I'm really afraid of people losing the bigger picture even more with all consequences that come with it)
...I'm now looking at my own addition on not wanting to talk over one act of violence with another, and it's actually horrifying in another way. It is becoming nearly impossible to talk about anything in this conflict with good faith, anywhere, because of all the hatred, destruction, violence and outright murders that are happening not just in the Middle East but across the world as a very large spillover.

Its one of those perfect political storms that often results in any voice for peace or moderation being ignored. There is no rationality or incentive for peace at the table. The Israeli government has bipartisan US backing and needs no further support to see their ends met. They also have a majority and powerful PR machine that only promotes the war while rendering any Jewish opposition mute to the outside. At the same time, Ghaza and Hamas were designed by Israel to prolong hostilities and feed the war machines for both pro and anti Israel agendas. The Palestinian people have been deprived of autonomy and have no leverage to shift the gears of power that are crushing them. The wider Arab and European world have a lot to gain by not meaningfully engaging the issue and siding with the US and Israel. (They all literally signed this major trade route plan a month before the October attacks and i could not fathom why Israel would thread a rail line around the west bank and Gaza, just to send more goods to Hafia with its range to Lebanon and the pirate problem. I have this morbid premonition that they build the Port of Donald and all those people died to save a few bucks on import costs.)
Jewish people have a history of persecution. Under no circumstance is that acceptable, but Judeism is one of the worlds oldest religions and there is a lot of history to unpack. Some Christian are anti-Semitic because the Jews killed Jesus. Some Muslims are anti-Semitic because the Jews wrongfully occupy the Holy Lands.
But I'd like to imagine that a lot of people hate all Jews simply because they are told to. Theres no rational reason for that position. The same way it's not rational for a Jewish person to hate every Palestinian. The same way it's not rational for any person to hate all of another group. It's just easier to work in that way because it saves a lot of brain power.
I'm sure that this conflict is being presented as an existential threat to Jews. Same way post 9-11 had many Americans believing that every town and plane in America was a potential target. The same way a lot of Muslims were convinced that the west would come for them next. Its probably seen as slippery slope to the next Holocaust. I can't imagine how these killing are being framed. Or the many anti genocide protests. Like I've gotten so many comments that ask "what about the hostages" and my response is "how many blocks of Tel Aviv would you be willing to flatten to save one hostage".

I think it’s important to try to prevent the conflict in Gaza from spreading to other parts of the world. That means doing whatever we can suppress both anti-semitism and anti-Palestinian violence in the US. The people affected by this conflict who have managed to escape should be able to live in peace in the US.
I haven’t heard of any countries working to take more refugees from Gaza. (Trump’s cynical talk about getting other countries to take refugees without doing it ourselves doesn’t count.) That is a disgrace, letting people be trapped in one of the most dangerous conflict zones in the world for all this time. Contrast with what happened in Syria and Ukraine: other countries took in millions.

Yes, this shouldn’t be left to neighboring countries, and pro-immigration policies are controversial everywhere. But if it were an international effort spread across multiple countries, it seems very doable. The number of people who would voluntarily leave Gaza is likely well short of a million, given that the total population is around 2 million.
I like to speak up for it even though I’ve never found anyone who agrees. It seems weird that there aren’t any advocacy organizations pushing for something that seems so obviously the ethical thing to do.
(There are a few open borders advocates, but they aren’t talking about Gaza specifically, and having no immigration restrictions at all seems utopian.)

TFA says it was a networking event for those involved in the Israeli diplomatic community, not about helping Gazans, although humanitarian groups were invited.
The alleged shooter was reported as having shouted “free Gaza,” which indicates opposition to Israeli actions, but there is nothing in the article that suggests antisemitism. Condemning Israel’s military actions is not the same as antisemitism nor even refusing the modern Israeli state’s right to exist.
I’m generally a long way down the pacifism road, but I have the privilege today for that. It’s hard for me to judge the actions of those who seem to be reacting to unjustified aggression, especially from a much stronger entity. I’m not sure what motivated the shooting, there’s not nearly enough information, but I can understand very strong emotions around IDF actions.

This was I think as inevitable as it is tragic.
Nothing will improve because of it. And I'm genuinely concerned we'll see the use of extraordinary rendition on a citizen because of it, or some other horrendous human rights violation. The people of Gaza will be no better off, the people assassinated had no decision making power, the pro-Palestinian protests will be chilled, the violent rhetoric will increase, more innocents - whether Jewish or Palestinian, or protestor - will be hurt or killed. Hearts will be hardened. Empathy will be lost.
Real life vigilantism isn't the same as the comics, it almost never saves the day.

Leaving aside any of the political implications, they looked like a wonderfully in love young couple and they were soon to be married. Their deaths are a tragedy that's got to be just tearing their families hearts to pieces. I can't condemn the shooter enough, not because of his political motives, but because he violently cut down two young people in the prime of their lives. Absolutely despicable.

Why can't we all look into the white of each other eyes...?

The gunman went to a Jewish museum, to an event that was intended to help Gazans. This was straight-up antisemitic.

Wouldn't surprise me. But do you think it would have happened without the ongoing war in Gaza?
For me the answer is no.
This was I think as inevitable as it is tragic.
