Fantasy Football Week 1 thread
Thought I'd start a fantasy thread if anyone here plays. I'll create a new one Monday night for the following week if anyone is interest.

After today's games I now have 5 players that are out. This is fine.
I am historically terrible at Fantasy Football. I've been in this league for close to 10 years now, started when we were all in College together. This year we switched to a new app (Sleeper), and had a few people who were unable to make it to the draft due to life.
Apparently Sleeper's autodraft is absolutely terrible because it was making some terrible picks. Long story short, I'm about to end the first week with possibly the most points scored in the league, and the guys on my bench managed to score a load more points than my starters (of course I'm sure if I start them next week they'll be trash.)
I'm actually sort of looking forward to the season this year now that I'm in with a shot of at least not last!
My team as of week 1 | 12-team auction PPR:
Bench:
I'm content with everything but my RB2 and TE at this point. Looking to make a move or run to the waiver wire.
As usual, my money league, the league I care about, my team is about to lose unless somehow the cowboys defense can get me 41 points.
Meanwhile, in my other league where I don't really care whether I win or lose and no money is involved, my team is about to win by 29 points even though I started a player who is injured (Cooper Kupp).
Fantasy football at its best.
So, it looks like the Cowboys D/ST are doing their best to get you as many of those 41 points as possible. Only in the 1st Quarter and they've gotten 2 TDs
You might get it!
So close! The other guy I'm playing still has a kicker to play tonight. As long as he scores less than four, I'll win. I'm up 4 as of now.
I'm so invested in this now :D Please let us know the outcome!
Kicker definitely scored more than 4 points lol.
Yup! That's exactly what happened, ended up with 13 points and I lost.
Lost. The Buffalo Bills kicker ended up with 13 points so I lost by 9.
Lost. The other guy had one player left to play and I was up by 4 points. His kicker ended up with 13 points last night and I lost.
Cowboys put up 39 in my league, did you make it?
Not yet. 37 in my league. But I still have a small chance. I'm winning by 4. The guy I'm playing still has a kicker (Tyler Bass from the Bills) to play tonight and as long as the kicker doesn't get him more than 4, I will win.
I stopped playing fantasy football after I had a season in which I had the highest overall score of any team in our league, but I lost all my head to head matchups except 2 (so I was like 2-10 or something like that, it was a while ago). Like, I clearly was the best fantasy player based on our overall scores and it just always happened where my opponent had their strongest week of the season when they faced me.
So I feel your pain, fantasy is evil.
IMO every league should throw some money at the highest points earner, it just seems fair.
That is definitely a good reason not to play and I completely agree with that. The only reason I still play is the friendships, the camaraderie, I have with this group of friends. In my money league, we each put in $25 and the winner gets 80%, the second place gets 20%. This is a group of 10 guys and we've been playing since around 2005, when most of us were seniors/juniors in high school. Some of the guys have left, and a few new ones joined, but 6 of us are still from the very first year, 1 has been doing it for about 10 years, and the other 3 joined back in 2018. We use this as a way to hang out.
My other league is through former coworkers, similar situation as above but it's not for money. It's currently a group of 8 former coworkers. We've been in this league since 2013. This one is an online only since most of the people have moved since we started the league.
I really thought I was going to win despite Burrow and Higgins putting up 3 combined points and then the Cowboys D/ST put up 35 points for my opponent
I lost by 1 point this week : (
Oh that's rough, I lost by 5 points and felt like that sucked.
Thoughts on Anthony Richardson? I picked him up as my QB2 off waivers right before the game today, and I'm pretty excited about him. I might give him a go in a few weeks, if he keeps this up. QB1 is Herbert.
I encourage everyone here to (and I need to get my league to transition to) play Best Ball because weekly start/sit decisions are (Jean Ralphio voice) the woooooooooooooooorst.
