What did you do this week (and weekend)?
As part of a weekly series, these topics are a place for users to casually discuss the things they did ā or didn't do ā during their week. Did you accomplish any goals? Suffer a failure? Do nothing at all? Tell us about it!
I summitted my first "fourteener" (14,000'+ mountain), which was cool. Before you think too highly of me, it was Mt. Evans, which houses the highest paved road in the US so you can drive up to nearly the top. So my actual hike was only between a quarter mile and a half mile, but it still felt like an accomplishment.
I also flew back home, which was much more taxing than the summit.
That's fantastic! I did the same thing on Whiteface mountain back in 2009. My beat-up old Saturn did not like that side trip.
Whiteface is 4,867' and felt unreal, I couldn't imagine 14,000'+
I'd definitely recommend it if you are ever in Colorado. It's an hour or two from the Denver area to the welcome center, $17 per vehicle for a 3 day pass, very driveable (if a bit scary looking) and we saw mountain goats, bighorn sheep and marmots on the way up and down. Gorgeous drive, easy-ish hike (kids were doing the walk) and 30 degrees cooler than Denver/Boulder, which was a major draw for us. And, of course, the views were stunning.
My spouse and I found out that we're expecting our first child this week! :') We're so excited (obviously a little bit nervous too haha) but we're thrilled and just hope that Baby knows how much it's loved and wanted.
Congratulations! That's awesome news!
Thank you so much! We have so much to learn, do, and prepare for, but we couldn't be happier. :)
Went to a family reunion for my MIL's side. Actually had a pretty good time and had some good conversations with a lot of my wife's cousins and their families. And all the kids played well together and got along great (which was a huge relief).
Our neighborhood is having a garage sale weekend, so we spent most of the week getting stuff out of the storage areas in our house to sell. We've been pleasantly surprised at how much we've sold today. Our house is at the back of the neighborhood (literally half a mile to the entrance) so I wasn't sure we'd get many visitors, but we've already sold around half our stuff.
I started a new job this week. I travel for work and every 3 months or so I start a new assignment at a new facility. I have pretty bad anxiety and can be socially awkward, overthinking and worrying about the perceptions of those around me. So meeting new people and trying to find my place can be overwhelming. Iām just glad I made it through the week.
Worked way too hard for what they pay me. I did get some tasks done with booking/planning my next getaway however. Planning to do more of that this weekend.
I spent the week in Mexico for work. I miss my family, its very hot here. I spent most of my time sweating on a factory floor or hiding out in my hotel room. But I'm being paid well for the trip. Also some time alone might have been good for me. I'm ready to head back tomorrow with fresh plans and excitement for my actual life back home.
Drove 1000 km to our son's house pulling our runabout boat (and very happy that nothing broke and no tires blew) and getting ready for our second annual Family Lake Day, a tradition I hope goes for many years to come. There will be 12 of us this year and we're thrilled to have them all coming.
This week? Did as little work as possible since starting today Im moving two offices in 7 days. One up two floors. The other to a building a blovk away. Fun times.
Finally started working full time! Didn't really get much accomplished though lol. Met my assigned manager 1-1 on my second day and after learning about my experience, he said he'd move me to a sister team that could really use someone like me. The new team's manager was super busy and didn't really get back to me until yesterday when I was finally formally introduced to the team. This new team seems pretty chill so I can't wait to see what's in store for the future.
