Spent the last two days with temporary paralysis... So trying to take things easy.

Though, I'm already halfway through my weekend, and spent the day with my daughter, which was awesome.

    Warning: Incoming father-happy-rant.

My little girl is two years old.

She's getting really good at helping with cooking, and we made our traditional banana bread - and she can now say "banana bread", which is awesome.

She also built a train track, and managed to assemble the crossing bridge herself, which is kinda impressive, it's fiddly.

And finally, a bouncy ball was flying up and down the hallway between her grandfather, herself, and myself for most of the day. Accompanied by copious amounts of laughter.

Though, she didn't want to do any gardening today, which was different, because she usually soaks all the plants with her own watering can. Probably because her grandfather made her stand around for an hour and help with potting plants a couple days ago, when all she wanted to do was go inside. I'll have to show her it doesn't have to be awful and boring again somehow.

And she's developing a pretty good relationship with the dog. He's a red heeler, so fairly full of energy, and a little unpredictable because of the dingo, of which he has a fair streak. However, he usually does what I say, and he's learning to do what my daughter says. (She loves giving him a treat or pat.)

The dog has a fairly strong protective instinct too, which is nice. He takes on a defence stance if a little distance appears between me and her.

Wouldn't leave her alone with him ever, but nice to see she's starting to fear him less, and he's starting to obey her when she growls out a little, "Stop."

    End father-stuff.

I'm probably not going to be able to stand up til midday tomorrow, the last day of my weekend... So probably watch some Brooklyn Nine Nine, and maybe a little more programming, though my brain is starting to go to fuzz.

Be nice if I got either that thing or WiFi working on my homebrew computer, then I could start to use it for more stuff than just math.

Autoimmune. I've got limited muscle control and mostly numb on most days, but on bad days, I get nothing.

I was planning on smoking a bunch of the now completely legal recreational weed that I ordered 10 days ago, finally watching the new season of Daredevil and playing video games all weekend. But thanks to short supply, insane demand, and a Canada Post strike it looks like the first part of my plans have fallen through since my weed hasn't even shipped yet when it was originally supposed to arrive a few days ago. :(

Did you ever think you'd be saying, 'yeah, my government sold me some weed, but when I didn't get the tracking number right away so I checked the status page to find that there's a postal strike...'?!

I was lucky and ordered some capsules on day two and had them delivered the following morning.

I've been going to dispensaries for about ten years or so now (some of which turned out to be brick and mortar drug dealers...), but this new process is great when it works.

There is absolutely no legitimate reasons for it to be illegal IMO, so I actually did think that eventually rational minds would win out and even recreational weed would be legalized here, I just didn't think it would be so soon! And given the way liquor is handled here in Ontario, dispensed through the LCBO, a Crown Corporation (State owned/operated), I had guessed it would probably be similar for weed. I never figured for the dang postal strike though! :P

And yeah once all the kinks are worked out I think it'll be great. The Ontario Cannabis Store website is actually pretty slick, devoid of fear-mongering and actually remarkably informative. I'm sure once the supply chain gets properly sorted out and things calm down there won't be such crazy delays anymore.

Out west, weed has been normalized for so long, but now its like every corner has a dispensary or two. It'll be better once the government opens more brick and mortars.

Yeah, they are treating weed exactly like cigarettes in Ontario. No marketing speech or photos allowed, generic packages with health warnings on them, etc. I don't think weed and cigarettes are at all comparable, despite them both potentially being inhaled products but whatever, "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth", as they say. :P

And as for brick and mortar dispensaries, apparently in Ontario the government is actually planning on allowing licensed, privately owned brick and mortar dispensaries and just acting as the wholesaler and quality control inspector for them all, and being the sole online retail source. Which is a-okay with me, too.

I'm legit so happy for people that weed is legal here, because illegality made no common sense, but God I hate the smell of weed so much.

LOL that's fair. Some weed strains are referred to as "skunk" for a reason... and it's not really an exaggeration because it does smell almost identical to the spray of a skunk (when at a distance, anyways). I typically vape, so the smell is really minimized though. And I also purchased some oral CBD spray which supposedly smells only of peppermint, and once edibles are available I fully intend to take advantage of that as well. Although, not going to lie, I actually really like the smell of weed (and skunk spray at a distance). ;)

I just got a crazy job offer from a friend that will change my entire life, if it all works out. I’m kinda freaking out, but trying not to.. so I’ll be raking leaves and cleaning the house. I’ll also probably be meeting with a realtor about selling this farmhouse in Poland, in case this job works out.

How big do elk get in Texas? Arizona elk are pretty small; I was wondering if that was a latitudinal thing.

I ask because I've hunted elk in north Idaho for years and they can get positively gigantic. Almost moose-sized if you're deep in the woods.

This weekend I'm taking care of a bunch of little things that I've been putting off. I've got an old set of speakers that have loose covers, so I'm going to cut off and drill out the old plastic tabs and put in some wood dowel for a tighter fit.

I'm also considering building a new desk -- but I need to find some legs for tall dudes.

Little crap like that. I'm taking care of any sort of nothing-task that allows me to listen to the Darth Bane trilogy that I picked up the other day.

A buddy of mine mentioned the Star Wars EU in passing a few months ago, so I started with the Thrawn trilogy. Since then I've finished Zahn's Thrawn books and have started into any other books that catch my eye. I can't believe it took me this long to give these a shot. So far they've all been excellent.

I just voted early with my wife and son! Took less than 10 mins. Now I'm at home cleaning up some before a couple friends who are passing through town come over.

It's time to rake leaves, collect walnuts, and fix the front porch before the trick-or-treaters show up. Hopefully I'll find some time to practice guitar and watch a couple movies with the Missus...

It was a wonderful fall day and we had a lot of fun. Still haven't fixed the front porch, but got all the rest done.

I might play a bit of WoW when I get home before I go to sleep but for the most part, the next 10 days or so will be work and sleep

I guess the silver lining is that my car is having some sort of transmission problem. It's going from 1st to 3rd, at least until it warms up. Then it feels like it shifts fine. It's been at the transmission shop for 2 days so far and they haven't figured out what's wrong. Cars paid off so I'm hoping it's a cheap fix but it's also almost 10 years old and not worth more than about 2 grand so at a certain point, I'll need to weigh whether or not it's really worth dropping good money for repairs.
