I also fell over while ice skating and got a bunch of stitches right before it. I have a pretty nasty black eye because of it and I've been asked all weekend at the conference who beat me up haha.

Sorry about your face, that sounds terrible! How did you fall? Just face first into the ice or something?

Went on a trip to Orlando for my anniversary with my girlfriend. Was a very nice time(I'm always surprised with Orlando's neighborhoods). Went to a show, ate at a lovely vegan restaurant, visited a bird sanctuary, and walked around some parks. The only bad part was driving on I4, but I that's the tradeoff I suppose. Our Airbnb had an outdoor shower, which was kind of strange but not as weird as I thought.

Her best friend is going to France on an exchange for 2 months, and Kid1 wanted to make her some french baked goods. I shut up about the fact that we were making her relatively bad versions of great baking that she'll have access to for months, and boy am I glad that I did, because these were the best macaroons I've ever had. They were light and airy and delicious. We also opted to go for different colour for the stuffed interiors, which doesn't seem like something most people do, but I thought it made them cuter than normal.

We also made tulipes which are daunting, raspberry mousse which was delicious, and custard which didn't set and I'm going to turn it into ice cream.

Other activities for the weekend included pulling some drywall in my kid's room so we can start replacing things so we can sell our house hopefully this spring. We also did a ton of laundry, and spent a good amount of time clearing snow; I usually snow blow my driveway and a few neighbours, and a significant amount of the sidewalk on my street so people can walk without dampening their ankles.

Caught up with 2019 movies, I watched Parasites, Portrait de la jeune fille en feu and The Lighthouse. I was a bit disappointed by Parasites (it's was entertaining but not much more), Portrait de la jeune fille en feu was amazing, and the Lighthouse was let's say, interesting (I didn't really enjoy it, because it's quite oppressive, not because it was bad).

I played a new board game with some friends. It's called Glorantha: The Gods War. It was quite fun. Once we got the hang of things, it moved pretty quickly. With four people, there isn't much downtime between your turns (I hate games where you wait 30 minutes between one turn and the next).

What sort of game is it? What was your favourite thing about it?

Stopped at three of the local wineries on Saturday to taste the latest releases - it's red bottling season. We had an interesting chat with a couple of wine-loving South Bend, Indiana government employees who were visiting on a weekend getaway.

These young professionals had some direct acquaintance with Pete Buttigieg, and their lukewarm-to-cool reactions said a lot. Mayor Pete's a nice guy with a nice husband and nice dogs, but not much of an executive; the established insiders in the police department walked all over him.

Later, bodega Mexican food and a pint of locally-brewed Belgian-style trippel. The food and drink scene in my locale is way too good.

Sunday - stomach 'flu symptoms (likely Brett yeast intolerance - it's not the first time Belgian beer has left me ruined), all day in every way.
