RIP Totalbiscuit
@gennabain:
Rest in Peace my Dearest Love John @Totalbiscuit Bain July 8, 1984 - May 24, 2018
He just had posted that some pills were miracolously having effect some days ago... We lose a great gaming journalist and man.
I hear that's usually how it goes: A last burst of energy before drifting into death.
I only saw him when I watched the occasional Co-Optional Podcast. I knew he was a lot thinner but I didn't think he was so close to the end.
Unfortunately he's been in palliative care for the past month, the improvements he saw over the last week were predominantly pain related. It's been hard to watch him stubbornly fight through so much and then still succumb in the end.
RIP Totalbiscuit :(

FWIW, I don't agree with these posts being flagged as "noise" or "joke". TotalBiscuit was a gaming icon, and "F" has been a heartfelt tradition when gamers pass for a long time now. I think he would've very much appreciated it, despite the average person seeing it as fluff/spam. I know I sure as hell would, and seeing the sheer number of "F" posts on forums for him lately has made me tear up (I also have Stage IV cancer and am a lifelong gamer).
I will miss his rants about the ills of the video game industry.
May he rest in peace. God speed to him and prayers to his family.
Oh no!
I was really hoping he'd pull through. I didn't realise he was at death's door.
RIP Totalbiscuit.
He announced around a month ago that he was going to cut back and 'retire' while still producing some content. He said that he had exhausted all treatments and there wasn't anything else that could be done to combat his disease. He wanted to spend his final days relaxing with his family instead of making content like he had.
Honestly, I thought he had much more time left. He mentioned that doctors had given him an expectancy for when he would die but kept it to himself.
Wow... this was pretty sudden. I was never a huge fan of him, but he's been very important for gaming journalism.
I don't follow gaming news at all, so... Please forgive me but who is this guy?
I see a lot of gaming subs all mentioning him, so what was his story?
Starcraft Shoutcaster originally but then became a hugely popular videogame critic and podcaster on YouTube... he was also very very active on reddit in the early days there. I was a huge fan and had a few small but fun interactions with him over the years in his subreddit. This sucks but I think all of us fans knew it was coming... he has been battling this for years. At least he is pain free now. Fucking cancer. :(
Ah damn that's a shame. That's just heartbreaking. =(
Oof.
I've never been a part of his fandom, but it's never a good day when someone dies.
This makes me sad. He was such a firecracker and will be greatly missed.
I met him a few times back when he was making videos with the Yogs. He was a lovely guy. Always had time to chat. His strength in the last few years was admirable.
