I just opened Facebook today, something I very rarely do (I only really maintain my account for Messenger and I only keep my account active because one friend didn't understand that he could still message me with my account deactivated), and I wish I could say I was surprised to see that 12 straight posts on my News Feed were suggested or ads. I don't understand how anyone actually still uses this site. It was so great 15+ years ago...it is just completely awful now, and has been for years. I know it's been giving dozens of ads/suggested posts in a row for at least the better part of a decade.

If you refresh it's almost impossible to see previous posts. And most annoying thing I felt was Facebook ruined while browser history. Every page visited has Facebook title in history page

The main feed is indeed completely useless. I do still find Facebook useful for some various groups. Like local community groups where people in your neighborhood can help each other with small stuff like lending things, info on yard sales and other casual information. I also still use Facebook for some niche interest groups which basically works like a discussion forum. It would be useful if the main feed actually had posts from your groups, but it seems to mostly ignore them.

I didn't know you could receive msg with a deactivated account. Also, is there a way to use Messenger without an account or with a deactivated one? A kid's friend wants to use it but I don't want their stupid app on my phone

Honestly, more power to him. On the other hand, I am happy I left facebook, I don't trust zuckerberg at all and it just seems like being on it was probably a bad idea in the first place. So I'm kinda happy facebook made it pointless for me cause it refused to show me what I actually wanted to see (my friends' posts done by time posted and not re showing me the same friend's post over and over again and nothing new).
