Of course, this could be extended to any popular capitalist - but tech bros are particularly egregious.

I found that especially gross, vilification of huge tech billionaires but only if they happen to spend their vast fortunes on things that could help people. Who cares if they're absolute cut-throats, the reason the valley is a cesspool that led to Theranos - as long as, later in life, they reprimand their sins by giving money to... "good stuff."

        Also:

Jobs made a device I use every day.

Yea, no mention of Wozniak or other, actual engineers - just the figurehead, nice.

It's depressing how fast everyone forgot Microsoft's vast legacy of sins. That company rewrote every page of every book about dirty business tactics.

It's not too surprising that there are a lot of people who defend everything Elon does. I've spent a lot of time in /r/SpaceX, and while it's well-moderated and the userbase generally denounces the shittier things he does, there are still plenty of people who go out of their way to defend him from rightful criticism.

Hah. I used to moderate r/SpaceX. The number of times I was accused of being a paid shill for trying to inject reason and rationality into the discussion remains too high to count. r/TeslaMotors is somehow worse. Most people have barely any functioning knowledge of the companies they follow, yet their commentary is so full of absolutes, simplifications, and handwaving.

See, I've told people that if they are going to go around sucking Elon's dick nothing good would come out of it. Now people are fed up with him being overpraised and there is a hit piece after hit piece of blind hatred on him. Ffs, if you'll place anyone on pedestal people naturally would be drawn to the idea of kicking him off. It's character, character, character, nothing of substance.

Yeah, the internet as a whole is an irrational child with dramatic mood swings. My opinion on Musk has never changed. I think he's a smart guy who happened to hit it very big who has a lot of passion and drive to make humankind better. I know he's also a human though, and is probably not nearly as smart or business savvy as he thinks he is, or as he pretends to be, and is fallible, just like anyone else.

I also think he's not as socially well developed as he could be, takes criticism way too personally, and doesn't have effective ways of managing stress.

The internet thought he was literally a superhero for a long time, but now they think he's a demon sent from hell to ruin the world. These thinkpieces only work when they're irrational, frothing hitpieces or glowing, deifying praisefests.

Everything related to technology seems to have turned into an echo chamber lately. Nobody seems willing to innovate so when someone does everyone else follows weather or not it is actually a good idea. Musk is one example. iPhones are another; suddenly every major Android phone has a notch and no headphone jack.
