You'll occasionally see a topic if someone has just posted it and forgot to tag it, but the Keepers of the Tags are usually pretty quick to add tags if someone's missed them.

A lot of it hits ~news too, so you could either unsubscribe from there or curate your ignored tags as mentioned above.

There are some handy documents regarding Tildes at https://docs.tildes.net/, including instructions on filtering tags at https://docs.tildes.net/instructions/tildes-front-page#filtering-the-topics.

As pointed out by others, you can filter based on tags, and you can unsubscribe from places that trend to have links you don't care for. Those are both great points, but they are sleeping on one of the best ways to customize your home page: the "ignore" feature.

Any time you see something you don't care for, click on "Actions" then choose "ignore this post". You will no longer see it.

And I think obviously the best solution is to use all three of these options together:

    • Unsubscribe from groups for topics that have no interest for you
    • Filter those groups based on keywords filtering
    • Ignore any posts that slip through those cracks

I agree, a lot of people are sleeping on the ignore feature. I find it particularly useful when one specific post or conversation is bothering me, since it enforces me not paying it any more...

You can also filter out subsets of tags if you want to be specific. Like you can have ask.recommendations and ask.advice filtered out but ask.discussions will still show up.
