But, of course... it's yet another streaming service's attempt to get subscribers by reviving yet another popular show from pre-streaming days. sigh
And I'll still be watching! :D
Of course I will. It's Futu-fucking-rama!
goes off to Google "who has the rights to Hulu shows here in Australia?" EDIT: Disney+ (which we have in my household... yay!)
This is also one I am looking forward to. Even though they can't seem to come up with new IP's, they are bringing back the originals creators who seem excited to bring us more content. That alone...

Bobby also needs to live in a suburb outside of Houston where everything looks the same and he's constantly stuck in traffic.

I'm a little worried though as there was a dip in quality the last time it was rebooted. I worry it might be the same here. The trailer doesn't seem that great either.
But I'll remain hopeful and optimistic. You'll never know till it comes out.

I'm really concerned with how topical it is. Futurama is a show where it doesn't need to parallel what's going on in our lives so exactly. Like the Alexa part at the end just feels like a lazy joke that new Simpsons would have, and it doesn't make much sense in the Futurama world. They have sentient robots everywhere, so why would the Alexa looking device just now be shown off? It feels so outdated in this world where they are vastly superior in terms of technology from today.
The other gag that concerned me was the covid and the swab joke. Just comes across as a lazy thing. Why does covid need to be mentioned in any way in this show? This show has done such a better job in using some storytelling to mention topical things, but in an interesting manner. They dealt with Climate Change by taking a huge chunk of ice and dropping it in the ocean, that's both topical to mentioning an issue we're having today, and such a funny thing in terms of how the future world deals with it.
Compare that to the swab joke shown, and I just am not filled with optimism that this current writing team understands what made Futurama work so well. It just comes off as new Simpsons writing in terms of its gags.
I am so excited for this reboot. Futurama was my favorite cartoon when I was a kid. Getting home from school and booting up Netflix on the Nintendo Wii… Ahh, good times

I remember buying each episode individually on amazon with my dad's credit card one summer. After that I had to buy books with my own money on my kindle lol.

Also I wonder how they will deal with direct (pop)cultural references to the 2010s to 2020s, given that Fry didn't experience any of those years since he left in 2000. Might get increasingly more difficult to make that work.

Hulu is also rebooting King of the Hill sometime in 2024 with a grown up Bobby. That should be pretty good too.

2024 and that boy still ain't right

But they keep nailing it w/ the series finales... (is there a record?)
Hopefully its the same writers
Same everything, they're all back.
I went through the same series of reactions. I am absolutely ecstatic it's coming back... again!

Even sub-par Futurama is better than many other shows at their best.
I agree. But it'll be harder to be disappointed if my expectations were low to begin with. I look forward to new episodes.

I got strong later-season Simpsons vibes too. Let's hope they just chose those jokes for the trailer and there's more substance to it...

Wow this was unexpected. Hope they stay true to the original.

Did Leela have a different VA?
