Love Taskmaster, but this finale was a bummer. It's disappointing to see them leaning so far into improv tasks lately, makes it feel like more of a variety show than the creative lateral thinking that originally got me hooked. I don't find the "do whatever you like and Greg picks his favorite" style tasks nearly as fun or interesting. I hope it's just an experiment for this season.
Spoiler finale thoughts
Between the gross out donut task, the made up fitness/dance task, the chaotic hotel task, and the "throw a ball" stage task, nothing in this finale really rewarded the watch. 😞
Yeah, I'm generally not a huge fan of the really open-ended, pure improv tasks either. Some have ended up being quite funny, like the various "make a <theme> movie or song" ones in previous...
Yeah, I'm generally not a huge fan of the really open-ended, pure improv tasks either. Some have ended up being quite funny, like the various "make a <theme> movie or song" ones in previous seasons. But it takes a particular type of comedian to make that sort of task entertaining, and IMO a lot of the more open-ended improv ones this season have been kinda shit.
Spoiler finale thoughts
I actually did enjoy the hotel task, purely because of how much chaos Alex threw at the contestants, and how intentionally annoying he was being. But the exercise one was really dumb. The doughnut one was also really dumb... and gross. And the final task this episode was probably the weakest, laziest, most uncreative final task we've seen yet, and the results were super anticlimactic as a result.
Overall I still really enjoyed this Series though, but yeah, definitely not a great final episode.

This series had some weird choices that feel like editing and storytelling things, to me. You mentioned the disappointing finale tasks, for one. I loved the hotel task myself, but I'm confused why they didn't take, say, a fun location task like the driving course with the flags and put it in in lieu of one of the underwhelming ones. I watched the doughnut task right before Thanksgiving dinner and let me tell you, that was a mistake. I feel the same way about all the buildup surrounding the secret task -- why include all that in the final cut if no one found the thing until the underwhelming task where they were specifically told to do so? I don't know, parts of this season felt a bit clumsier than I've come to expect from the show.
Yeah, I think you hit the nail on the head. The editing was definitely off this season, especially all the secret task buildup, which was super weird and a massive let down.

I know there are several British streaming services for Americans do any of them have the majority of panel/quiz shows ? I just like vibing with comedians.
I can't answer that, since I watch enough UK TV and love panel shows so much that I actually bought myself a dedicated UK IP VPN package, so that I can just watch everything on the BBC, Channel 4,...

However, before I had the VPN, /r/panelshow was where I found stream/download links for most of the shows. So if you can't find any legal means to watch the panel shows, you could check there instead. But googling site:dailymotion.com "<show name>" S#E# also often works too. And quite a few panel show episodes are ripped on various YouTube channels as well, so you can often find them by searching for "<show name>" S#E# on YouTube as well.
Oh I've had a lot of luck on YouTube off and on. But I don't even always know what shows are out there and since I'm trying to cut a few other streaming services I don't mind going for a more...

But that is a new subreddit for me so I'll just make a quick note.

If you're into UK TV and panel shows as much as I am, you could always consider getting a dedicated UK IP VPN too, and then watch the shows on the official UK network streaming sites for free, like I do. You just need to register on them using a fake UK address, and lie to them about having paid for a TV license (which they never actually verify). ;)
I pay $100/yr for my VPN, which includes 2 dedicated residential IPs, one of which I chose to be from the UK and the other I chose US so I could also watch US geo-restricted stuff too (since I'm Canadian).
But yeah, if you're just looking to keep up with the latest panel show news then /r/panelshow is still a good place to do that, even if you don't pirate the shows.
I may , but I currently live on campus and use campus wifi (which I know may not flag a VPN situation but I'd rather not find out.) If I get the promotion I'm helping for, I'll be moving off...

I just figured if one of the services that existed already covered it, I'd go for that

I use Firefox and ublock origin on both mobile and laptops. Doesn't solve watching Taskmaster with my partner at night.
(Also, if you were wanting to be helpful, rephrasing this would be a better way to do so)
This didn't feel worth having it's own unique post. But, I noticed that the most recent "Askmaster" episode on the youtube channel does cover some of the topics people brought up in relation to S16.

Decided to post this since Taskmaster Series 16 is now complete, and all the episodes are available on YouTube.
