Rewatched The Diplomat - 9/10
This show is gripping from start to finish! I finished it in 2 days but only because I wanted to pace myself lol, otherwise I would have watched the whole thing in a single sitting. There's some truly great acting and dialogue which flows in a way that the obvious comparison is the West Wing, but with an obviously more modern twist to everything. Highly recommend for any fans of political thrillers!
This is the Keri Russell one, right? Silly that two shows with the same name came out so close to each other.
Wasn’t aware that there was another. I am talking about the Keri Russell show, yes!
Awesome! she’s great— i’ll definitely check this out. Comparing it to West Wing is an instant sell.
Can it fit my headcanon that everything she does is as a russian operative?
Hahaha maybe if you jump through a hoop or two 😅
perfect! i mean, Ben Linus (LOST) was also running the machine thing in Person of Interest after he was exiled from the island. :)
Just started X-Men '97 and I see why it's getting all the hype! Just at episode 3 so far but I'm enjoying it
Binged Severance. I'm a fan of thrillers, so I really enjoyed this. I'm disappointed though. The only thing I knew about this show was that it was one season and it's been out for a few years. So I thought it was only one season. Come to find out that there's more and now I have to wait :(
Watched Red vs. Blue: Restoration, the 19th and final season/movie. I love this series and have been watching since the mid 2000's. The first 13 seasons tell a great story. 14th season is a fun anthology, 15-17 jump the shark, and 18 was an okay attempt at telling a new story in universe. The creator came back to write the final season and it was directed by one of the original cast. It's truly a love letter to the fans and it wraps up the whole series very well. The story gives all the characters a good conclusion, explains the later seasons, and wraps everything up. It wasn't perfect, but I can't imagine the series ending any better.
I saw Fallout.
I liked it a lot. I finished the first season. I liked it more than what I saw of The Last of Us. It's not self-important, and it doesn't have that "prestige" TV feel to it. It's just good, well-made, entertainment. I've liked Walter Goggins ever since seeing The Hateful Eight (underrated all around) and the show has created a star in Ella Purnell. I've previously seen Purnell in both Army of the Dead and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. I don't remember her in Army and I don't remember Peculiar Children whatsoever. But she very much stands out here, and she has a unique look to her that is also harmonious and I'm looking forward to seeing her in more stuff.
This from Christopher Nolan's brother Jonathan Nolan, who has always been vocal about liking video games. I only played Fallout 3 for a little bit as a kid, I've always been terrible at video games but I never even managed to get out of the vault. So any story I learned from the show, and if I didn't know it was already a video game I wouldn't know it. It is so captivating.
Ella Purnell had a major role in Yellowjackets if you're interested in seeing her in more stuff.
Binge watched Dead Boy Detectives. (Netflix) What a fun romp. I hope they renew for season 2 as I'd love to see the Sandman tie in.
I'm a sucker for a teen supernatural dramedy so I expected to like this and I was right. It was so much fun, it didn't take itself too seriously but the characters were all nicely fleshed out and actually had real development through the series. I cared about what happened to them all - especially the scene with Edwin and Charles on the staircase was particularly sweet. It was nice seeing some other Sandman characters too, and like you I'm hoping for more in season two, if we get it.
After finishing Barry which I absolutely adored (needs a bit more time but I think it'll settle into my Top 5 of all time list) I moved on to Shogun. I'm really liking it so far, currently half way through the season and it looks gorgeous, the political intrigue, back stabbing and maneuvering is fantastic, and the actors are all just great in their roles.
Batman Caped Crusader is coming to Prime Video on August 1st.
