Honestly didn't realize how legit of a service Tubi had become. I didn't even realize they were purchased by Fox in 2020.
its pretty crazy... and works with yt-dlp.
... oh. Well I've got something to check out tomorrow then, lol.
I was so surprised. I wanted a dubbed copy of A Better Tomorrow because some of the samples are in some Wu-Tang tracks. Only tubi seemed to have them, so I gave it a swing and muxed it in with the bluray rip. Pretty handy. Not everything works, but dig through the Inspector > Network and give it a swing. Some stuff has DRM, others do not. :)
Tubi has basically become over the air tv in the streaming age. We cycle the other streamers to keep cost down, but even then we sometimes end up using Tubi more in any given month.

Very good lineup. Looking at this has made me realize just how fucking dire Cartoon Network has become in the past two decades.
I just had a look at the TV guide listings for the Cartoon Network channel in my country. It's like they only ever show Teen Titans Go, Gumball and The Regular Show on repeat, and for some reason, they're showing a Totally Spies episode at 2am...
Boomerang (the channel originally launched to host all the vintage Hanna-Barbera and Looney Tunes stuff) isn't that much better. Do you feel like watching hours of Tom & Jerry or whatever the fuck Mush-Mush and the Mushables is? Tom & Jerry I can understand but not Mush-Mush, Boomerang was meant to be the retro channel and their idea of retro is a babies cartoon from 2020? Either I'm geriatric or I've just discovered the reason why people turn to YouTube and online streaming...
The lineup has been like that for a while (though last I checked here last week, I was pleasantly surprised to see Dexter's Lab during the day). I remember one or two Christmases ago I checked the lineup to see if they were airing any nostalgic specials... Nope, absolutely no Christmas programming, but they were airing Wonder Woman for some reason.
Though I'm guessing your country doesn't have Adult Swim, if it's airing Totally Spies! at 2 am. That, or they decided the thinly veiled fetish stuff was too inappropriate for kids
I think Boomerang has also been geared more towards babies and toddlers for a bit. Though I remember even as a teen, they'd started airing older Cartoon Network originals alongside the old Hanna-Barbera and Looney Tunes stuff. That said, I remember the last time I tried to check out Tom and Jerry (years and years ago), there was something weird about the aspect ratio...? Can't remember the exact issue, but I think they basically stretched it to fill the screen instead of using black boxes. Really put me off since that's such a basic thing to do. Sincerely hope they don't still do that...
We never had Adult Swim. The closest we've had to it was CNX (which lasted a year) and Toonami (which lasted four years) as dedicated side-channels. Both failed to gain traction.
I was also wrong about when Totally Spies was airing. For some reason it airs at 5:10 every morning on Cartoon Network.
Doubt that it's because the show has been deemed inappropriate for kids, considering the fact that it was one of the main staples of Fox Kids/Jetix back in the day. I think it's more like the people running the UK & Ireland Cartoon Network channel have zero taste and are just pen-pushers doing constant reruns of the same 2 or 3 shows.
The last time I went to stay at a hotel, I swear that the only thing playing on adult swim were marathons of Family Guy. It was insane.
Tubi has been going viral lately and I'll just point out that Tubi is kind of like what Hulu was way back in 2007 and 2008. Lot's of free content. Very short and simple ads. It was perfect. And then the god damn MBAs showed up.
I fear this may happen with Tubi in the next year or two.
They're making decent money now. But in a few years, the MBAs will want to make even more money, which will mean more ads, more intrusive and annoying ads. Then they'll start forcing you to pay a monthly fee and by 2031 Tubi will be no different than Netflix, Hulu, Peacock, of today.
