Is there something off with the audio, or should I get my headphones checked?

Finally a proper Garibaldi episode. In the first part of the season he was a bit one dimensional and sometimes just used for comic relief. Here his alcohol problem gets established, which of course isn't the last time it comes up. And as usual we have Sinclair obeying orders from Earth in malicious compliance creative ways, which is always fun.

I think I struggle with Garibaldi falling into the bottle as an episode. I think that the addiction is dealt better with in the future and the MC as "fugitive" is done better without that piece involved. I really forgot how much of the first season was "bad guys target/kidnap/frame/torture main character" typically Sinclair but also Delenn, Londo and Garibaldi. Ivanova gets let off the hook and Londo and G'Kar mostly torment each other (they're very much the clowns of the first season and the actors are up to the task).

I do think this is where Sinclair starts getting really cavalier with his "technically correct" loopholes. This is the President's advance security team.... Sure she's on a vengeance mission... But yeah. It works out I guess.

I just had a realisation, and maybe I'm crazy, but is there a chance Londo's makeup was inspired by first president of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk (in his later years, after he shaved his moustache and stopped wearing a hat)? He has the forehead baldness and the very distinct eyebrows, and even the same stern expression we often see on Londo's face.

Back on topic; not my favourite episode so far, but nice to learn some of Garibaldi's background.

Londo's hair and makeup were going to be more common - the hair kept going up as a joke before they landed on it and the pointed teeth and eyebrows - but it was a lot of work for the makeup crew.

Not sure if there was any direct influence or if a makeup crew person saw a picture that inspired them or Jurasik had some inspiration. Haven't seen that from JMS or other folks.
