The sequel STILL doesn't solve jack and or shit. Yes something important is saved, but it doesn't come anywhere close to changing the status quo.
You can make a movie focus on "the revolution" but that was never really the point of BR movies. It's obviously got the setting for it, but it's not really what makes the first two movies great, or what I see as the point of it. This isn't Star Wars/Dune where we're setting up to "solve" the society.
...but: imagine that revolution fails despite the protagonists' grandest ideals and most-earnest efforts, and ultimately means f*ck-all in the grand scheme of things; now that's a blade runner...

...anyway, i'm at work and haven't had a chance to watch the teaser, nor do i have much faith in amazon productions, but the short films associated with 2049 were fantastic and illustrate how the concept can work...

...i missed the 2049 trailers and didn't realise harrison ford was going to be in the film until he showed up on-screen; probably improved the viewing experience going in cold...

It was such an interesting and enjoyable movie, but I can't quite remember the name - it never came out in theatres and was barely mentioned in any of the circles I move in. Anyone remember the name?
Edit: and no it wasn't Underwater (2020, starring Kristen Stewart), which remains one of the greatest Alien films ever made, even if it didn't have an alien.
