Is it just me or does this list seem to rank most of the really bleak episodes quite low for no apparent reason? Fifteen Million Merits, Crocodile and Nosedive were dark as hell, and I had to stop watching Black Mirror for a few days after seeing them... but they were still great episodes IMO and yet they ranked them near the bottom. And The National Anthem (PM fucks a pig) is by far the worst episode in my eyes, yet they ranked it 8th best. I do agree with San Junipero being 1st though; It was brilliant, incredibly heartwarming and the ending was super satisfying.

This list just highlights how polarizing each episode of Black Mirror is, I guess. :P

See I didn't dig on San Junipero at all, but then heartwarming and positive is not what I look for in Black Mirror!

its funny how many people don't like National Anthem. For me, I think it's a perfect primer for the series. If people weren't so obsessed with the shock of the event, even after it was dragging on, someone would have seen her on the bridge.

For me, one of the major themes of Black Mirror is that we (as a society) are easily distracted and quick to turn off our discernment when it comes to media / tech / etc -- ultimately unaware of the consequences of our compliance.

So with National Anthem, its not the best episode, but its the perfect first episode.

I think they're ranked lower because of a lack of subtlety and originality, which I agree with.

The show is at its best when exploring the underconsidered ramifications of technological advancements, but we’re already aware of the dangers of social media and “like” culture, so “Nosedive” feels less novel and somewhat tired from the beginning.

Each Black Mirror episode is a critique of some aspect of modern media or technology, but they feel annoying and preachy (to me) when they just hammer you over the head with something everybody already knows. The world of Nosedive was incredibly contrived, predictable, obvious, etc.

The Community MeowMeowBeenz episode was both funnier and delivered a more nuanced and relevant critique of social media culture.

I haven't seen all of Black Mirror, mainly because some of the settings don't grab my attention. I still disagree with a lot of the reviewers choices. I always enjoyed Black Mirrors bluntness with its subject matter, like in USS Callister. Too much of time, I feel like some show or movie tries really hard to be subtle and nuanced, but they fail more often than not. Instead of always trying to have 5 intertwined themes that perfectly mesh in the climax, Black Mirror frequently focuses on one, and its bert
