Anyway that was well worth a watch, but it was pretty depressing to remember how dirty they did all the characters.

Also I read some time ago that GoT had several spin offs scheduled but only one is coming AFAIK. They really shot themselves in the foot or the can do a Dexter and apologize to the fans with a new mini show hopefully with a decent ending.

I'm currently going through this process with the Warcraft franchise. Story used to be good, now they are just churning the characters through the meat grinder and it breaks my heart. Warcraft 3 was my childhood, although I never got into WoW, I kept up with the story because I like the world and now it's just getting worse and worse.
At least with GoT they made it so bad that people literally stopped caring about it.

It gets said a lot about content these days, but I feel like it would've been way better as a show, but especially here, if you want to introduce such a world. Not that it even was necessary, if you write your dialogue smartly and pick the right scenes, you can use the imagination of the viewer quite well to fill in the blanks, and it's not like the Warcraft universe is that original from the POV of the movie, you have to races in a high fantasy world, and they got to war. Still they bogged it down hard with a lot of other shit, and if you want to do that, you need more time.
I still can't believe they decided to burn down Teldrassil and it was such a meh occurence. I can't believe what they have done to Sylvanas, the woman who's main essential conviction is that she will never, ever be controlled by anyone again, and made her do... Well, everything that she did.
I can't remember the last time so much potential was farted away in such a short time. I wonder how many billions D&D lost the company. GoT was the hottest thing on TV, and such a short time...
I can't remember the last time so much potential was farted away in such a short time. I wonder how many billions D&D lost the company. GoT was the hottest thing on TV, and such a short time later, nobody talks about it except to trash it. I myself like to veer between cackling at flaming roadkill and feeling contempt for that pair of hack schmucks.
My sympathies to the actors, whose talent was ultimately wasted by far smaller men.
Not TV, but Star Wars Episode 9 come into mind. 7 was OK and set up some basic door to explore (who's Rey, the stormtrooper POV, ...). Episode 8 was flawed both as a film and as Star Wars entry...

Not TV, but Star Wars Episode 9 come into mind. 7 was OK and set up some basic door to explore (who's Rey, the stormtrooper POV, ...). Episode 8 was flawed both as a film and as Star Wars entry but had some interesting ideas (Bury the past ! You just need to give people hope !). Episode 9 a theme park rollercoaster i.e. it's an adrenaline ride were you go from A to B to C with some pretty sights but it's ultimately shallow because you don't even have time to contemplate what's in front of you.
8 at least felt like Star Wars. It looked right. It felt like something was added to the franchise. I love the Jedi island, the fight in the big red room, the red sand on the rebel base planet,...

I love the Jedi island, the fight in the big red room, the red sand on the rebel base planet, general Kevin... I remember all of that stuff, the way one should remember Star Wars: Vaguely, with a sense of wanderlust. It's mostly world building and a few simple, flawed characters with a bit of an edge.
In comparison, I remember nothing about Episode 9. Nothing.
Well, it was hyped up so much, it was pretty clear that people would have a bit of GoT hangover once it's over. I also don't hear anyone talk about Infinity War or Breaking Bad, even though people...

Hell yes, she's one of the best and most high quality video essayists out there. A good amount of information, research, and humour all throughout. Her Whole Plate series that analyzes Michael Bay's Transformers movies through different critical lenses is a masterclass of making masterclasses too.
Even as far as Game of Thrones takes goes, she really did have the last word on the entire series. I don't think anyone else observed the things she did, especially the Sansa stuff, and many takes I see now seem to make their way back to the observations she made in these videos.
Thank you and @dubteedub for confirming my suspicion. I thoroughly enjoyed her writing and speaking style, looking forward to watching more. And yes the Sansa stuff... I went "Oh shit, she's...

It's just... so clear once it's laid out like that that it's a wonder that wasn't identified as a bigger problem until we had to suffer through that ridiculous Baelish vs. Arya storyline.

I get you. Warcraft as a franchise ruined its potential long ago though.
Did you watch the movie? I thought it was good.
Warcraft movie was definitely good, I was never a warcraft fan, but I saw the movie multiple times.
It was alright. They overused greenscreens as backdrops and the one pivotal scene where someone dies, I couldn't believe how little the actor was actually acting and how much CGI there was going on.

Nobbel87 did a great little video where he outlined what he would've changed from Legion onwards, and all he honestly did was change few pivotal moments and the story became instantly better by a ton.

I would say Dexter...but they suffered during the writers strike in their "defense"
Same goes for Heroes. It was never the same as the magic of season 1.
They did Heroes Reborn much later though and it was even worse.
I don't even count Heroes Reborn, ha.

I'm enjoying this so much while eating my lunch. So funny.
shows Dexter strangling John Lithgow
Update.
I watched it.
I am fucking depressed now.
