Even the original trilogy is full of flaws, but people still view them with Rose glasses thick enough for Cyclops from the Xmen. The nostalgia for them stems from the fact that for the time that they came out, they were a truly new experience. They were a showcase of ground breaking effects by ILM and the Jim Henson Creature shop, wrapped in a fine musical cloak by John Williams. It was a perfect storm of talent that supported mediocre writing and unimpressive acting (with some exceptions).

I had been planning this for a couple of years so I have almost every detail worked out, but a lot of it is stuff I've never done before so it's been a slow process. I've done some woodworking and working on cars in the past but I've never created a self contained electrical system or plumbing before. Luckily, I'm a visual learner and there's endless resources online for not only Van builds but construction in general.

One of the most intimidating things I had to do recently was cut holes in the side of my brand new Ford Transit for the windows I installed.

If this is something you're interested in, I would recommend starting with FarOutRide's guides to see what's involved. I've used these quite a lot. They are very informative and thorough.

I've had a plan to build out a van to live in for a while now and I finally bought one this spring and have been working on it since. My finances are secure for now and if I have to I can live pretty cheaply on the road by staying in parks (while they're still around) and with friends and family. I'll also have the flexibility to move around if disasters or lack of resources become untenable. This wasn't what I thought starting Van Life would be like but I'm glad I already had a plan that will let me adapt to what may come.

Take a stand on something: healthcare, Palestine, corporate greed, anything really. Position themselves as the only thing standing in the way of the Republican hate machine. Kamala didn't do anything at all to really differentiate herself from Biden or speak to people's fears and concerns. She basically just mocked Trump and campaigned on "business as usual".

My favorite version of this is the Pythagoras cup version. Same idea with a cap (100 million is pretty low, my version was a billion but we can figure out what the cap is later). But in my version if you become wealthy enough to pass the cap almost all of your wealth is distributed evenly across the nation. We would leave the attempted billionaire with the same amount of wealth that the average American owns including assets. We would of course have to greatly increase funding for the IRS and crack down on things like secret off shore accounts, but no one would be a billionaire in my administration.

    Hobby: Disc Golf or Pickleball

Both are super fun and cheap to get started with. A disc start set will run you like $20 and then it's just gas to drive to your local course. If you don't have one you can get a practice net for like $60-70 off amazon. Pickleball is just the cost of a paddle which is $40-60 (and up if you get serious) and a few balls for like $10. If your town doesn't have pickleball courts you can tape one out at a tennis court with the measurements online, or they sell nets online for like $100 for a cheap one.

The one streaming service a month method has served me well for years. Though I'm someone that doesn't care about watching things right when they come out. It also makes the price increases less of an issue and the few extra dollars a month for ad free not a big deal. Sign up, immediately cancel, then when the month is up decide if you want to continue it move on to another service. It's a bit more effort, but it's well worth it and cheaper in the long run.
