Yes, there's plenty of nuance. I generally agree with you, esp regarding solutions. Let's all stop killing each other.

You're right, he's a straunch supporter of Israel and I wouldn't expect that to change as RFK Sr. was assassinated by a Palestinian. However, I am too old to trust voters to be rational or informed in their (protest) votes, and it appears there are a number of independents that are disenchanted with the two other choices on offer.

Succinctly, RFK Jr. is a spoiler, and we don't know how yet.

There's a lot of talk about an aged president dying in office, but I feel like this is the unspoken damage of having a much older president. There is a generational gap about how Israel is understood in the modern world. I first heard this idea from The Ezra Klein Podcast (would recommend, esp for policy wonks), and I tend to agree with it. Paraphrasing:

The oldest living generation views Israel as a success story and its burgeoning state a haven for Jews escaping generations of persecution.

One generation younger sees them as an established regional power that has defended itself against attacks from its neighbours that intended to destroy it outright.

The youngest generation sees Israel as oppressors and colonialists because of their occupation of Gaza and the West Bank.

I don't envy the job of a president, I think it is full of Kobayashi Maru, but if Biden can't figure out how to bridge this gap, I think there will be trouble in November. If the youth turn out and vote RFK or just stay home....

My partner and I have two types of vacation: city and beach. A city vacation, say Rome or New York City, is more well-planned, while a beach vacation is very loose. They each serve their purpose, and they have some things in common, probably due to the type of people we are.

Either way, we will have some flags on an offline Google Map. In the city, these will be predominantly restaurants, but also points of interest, a grocery, and our accommodations. On the beach it'll be our spot, some beaches nearby, some restaurants, and a grocery.

Few of these things will be obligations, although we'll have some "must see" items and tickets/reservations for them, if possible. In Tokyo, for example, we made it to Team Labs - highly recommended! - but missed out on the Miyazaki Museum - couldn't get tickets :(.

We use some apps to keep track of things (Tripit, Kayak) and we book flights and accommodations as far ahead as we can (usually 6-12 weeks). I feel like these two pieces are the most organized we are.

We've done some long-term travel (10+ months) , as well, so we're very much in sync with each other about most things.

If I don't know anything about a place, I'll chatgpt some suggestions to get me started. It's a good aggregator!

That is enough for me, and a drop in multiplayer game here and there will let me try some new stuff out, too.

Hot tip. My main issue isn't a lack of friends but rather that the most difficult quest is scheduling. Drop in is where it's at for adult folk.

Have you ever played The Long Dark? This looks like that, but with zombies and base building. Granted that makes it a very different game, but if that's what it is like then I might give it a shot.

This is the thing I am most ashamed about myself. It took a lot of personal growth to overcome this.

Migrating geese fly in the shape of a 'v', but one side is always shorter than the other. Do you know why that is? Because there are fewer geese on that side.
