If a majority of ten working specialists have to agree that you are mentally incompetent, that is a test that is hard to game.
My concern with that is that it can still be gamed or abused (by the media, by someone deemed too incompetant, etc). Since it would be a medical test then it will be covered under HIPAA so your average person won't ever really know what went on behind the curtains. I also don't really like the thought of 10 people making such decisions for the whole country. This doesn't even touch any acting in good faith arguments.
Do you honestly think someone like Trump, who was just out there saying he beat George W. Bush and Obama in elections and if he didn't win in 2024 we'd see "WWII", would quietly accept the decision of a 10 person panel?
I think the only reasonably fair limitation would be age. Age can't be accused of being political like a person on a panel. Age doesn't care about party affiliation. There is already precedent with age minimums.
I would trust the experiences of a 40-something person to be closer with the actual world experiences of things like rent prices (even if for their children), cost of daycare, insurance prices over someone in their late 70s hording over their pile of gold going "when I was younger my mortgage was $135 a month".

While simplistic, if there was no lobbying (involving money, gifts, etc) then the "will of the people" could be shown with petitions and their votes since the politicians would be more vulnerable without unlimited funding
The point was really driven home to me when I watched "Distinguised Gentleman" starring Eddie Murphy. There is a scene where a senior politician is asking Eddie Murphy's character if he was for or against a particular cause (Power lines, IIRC). Trying to gain favor, Eddie's character was like "Well, what side should I be on?" and the senior politician was like "It doesn't matter! If you're against it we'll get you money from the environmentalists and if you're for them we'll get you money from the power companies! (but they pay better!)"

I have been running a DAKBoard on a Raspberry Pi 4 for almost 4 years now without any problems until recently following this guide IIRC.
About 2 weeks ago, DAKBoard started logging itself out and only shows a black screen with the time on it and the DAK logo in the lower right corner. If I go into the settings it will bring up the DAK page that shows I am not logged in. When I log in again it seems to work randomly for about 24-36 hours.
I'm running it in a kiosk mode browser on Raspberry Pi OS. I am using the free tier of DAKBoard.
Before I wipe the SD card and start over from scratch I was wondering if there were any suggestions? To be completely honest, it has been "set and forget" for the past number of years so I would like to make sure I'm not overlooking something pretty basic/easy.
On a side note: Has anyone had any experiense using the DAKBoard OS on a Pi? I don't remember it being an option when I set it up originally.
Thank you for any assistance and if you have any spare hardware laying around I'd highly recommend setting one up, my family finds it incredibly useful for the calendar function and a conversation piece when they notice different photos rotating in and out.

However, I'll still see something that coworkers of mine might find interesting so I'll mention it to them in the break room. They then get excited talking about it even though I'm not particularly interested in it myself.

So they would cover your way but also
32-18=
(32+2)-(18+2)= (to make the right side an even 20)

14as well as other ways. On paper, it was to expose kids to other means of solving problems so that if way 1 didn't work, maybe way 2 would make sense or possibly way 3 or 4.
As always, the problem was implementation. Since schools can only seem to measure by testing, they'll test each way they have taught (your example AND my example). That means it is entirely possible be marked wrong even if you got the rigth answer because it was the "wrong" way (for that particular test). I was incredibly active in my kids schooling when this was foisted on them. The teachers were incredibly frustrated since the tests were graded by computer and they had very little ability to override the grades. The whole thing was a convoluted mess that only enriched Pearsons at literally everyone else's expense.

However, the younger you are the more likely you'll be to try to make some crazy leap about why this offer for "Free Robux!" or "Free Fortnite Skin!" is "legit" ("I wonder if its some really rich guy like Mr Beast just giving them away!")
I also think it has to do with the really young and really old populations being the most vulnerable, kind of like like how the Nigerian Prince scams have poorly spelled words to discourage intelligent people that would look too deeply into it.

Another genius move they did was not allowing you to understand anything said by characters of the other realms so there really wasn't a way to trash talk opponents in the game.
I'm very suprised I haven't seen the 3-way system in more games (actually none come immediately to mind).

There are a few things from the summary that stick out:
"It is not possible to "consent to an act of violence against yourself," it added.
Can anyone elaborate on this? Is this encompassing things like BDSM, choking/slapping, play rape? Is there a concern of slippery-slope? If these are illegal to tape will they become illegal to do between 2 consenting adults?
Another of the measures they propose is to establish a right to remove content of a sexual nature at the request of any person featured in a given recording.
Would this allow someone who is paid to perform a scene then later change their mind and keep their pay? At the very least they would need to give back their pay + costs?
The report also stresses the importance of sex education in schools to combat the risk of young people being educated primarily by watching porn.
The committee wants at least three sex education lessons in schools to include a critique of pornography.
I personally think this is the best way forward--education.
Banning things don't work on the internet, especially if they're legal in other countries. Besides sex work being one of the oldest professions on the planet, porn is big enough of an industry that it is a massive driver in adoption of technology (from VHS to home internet).
Once again, I don't know the ins and outs of laws in France but I do consider porn a freedom of expression issue thing here in the US. If you are truly into freedom of speech/expression that means defending speech/expression that you may not like or find personaly distasteful (which, ironically, also leads to the "Paradox of Tolerance".

- there is no auto-locking of old threads to prevent necros
- if you do post on an older thread there is wording to the effect of (paraphrasing) "This post is y days/weeks old. Posting on older threads isn't discouraged but please make sure you are adding something new or relevant to the thread"
Given those 2 facts I don't see any issue with posting on old threads unless it is something inane or worthless like "me too!"

I think the fact that you're asking about the etiquitte of over-posting is a good sign that you probably won't break any unofficial netiquette. In the very few instances I've seen here the Tildes members have been pretty patient in educating someone as to how or why the post in question breaks netiquette (usually copying and pasting a whole article).

I have medical reimbursement at work so I kind of went "wild" with options (bendable non breaking frames, auto-tint, anti starburst, scratch resistant lenses, etc) My first pair was around $450 while my last pair was a little over $300. I got some basic level $100 frames both times (mainly due to the flex tech) The only difference I can tell is that the anti-glare/starburst film was better on my first pair.
For me the bendable, unbreakable frames were just a good idea after having kids. The anti-starburst film is so helpful at night and literally was a game changer (although I think the Walmart glasses used a cheaper version of Crizal or perhaps a knock-off).
I'm not sure why I had been resistant to the auto-tint until my dad got a pair. I was amazed at how I didn't even notice them getting darker/lighter. They're so subtle that sometimes I am shocked when I look in the rearview mirror and see dark lenses. Very rarely will I notice how dark it is when I go inside after being outside (usually just when no lights are on in the house when I enter).
Since I wear my glasses all the time now (not true with my first pair) they are definately in my category of "do not skimp on" even if I didn't get full reimbursement (but that def. helps)

I do, yes. Since I got auto-tinting ones I no longer carry around sunglasses. Since I wear mine pretty much all the time I don't really notice any discomfort anymore. I'm a heathen that just cleans his glasses with a tissue or a clean part of my shirt so I don't carry a case or that little cleaning rag they give you.
That's basically me (even though I take other pain killers than tylenol), like all the time! Haha. Especially in social situations when it's even more unpleasant to be visibly in pain. But I also have chronic pain issues.
I'm sure that sucks, friend.
Thank you for sharing your use-case scenario with me!

That is why MMO protests tell everyone to go to one spot/zone/city.
EVE Online has 1 game world. Every player to ever play the game has played in the same universe. When I played it, it was pretty normal to have 30,000+ concurrent players online. They have over 5000 solar systems and an additional 2500 wormholes in the game. They do this by putting clusters of solar systems onto a single server blade and hide loading screens behind the gate warp mechanic. Certain systems (like the main trade hubs) run on their own server blade with no other systems.
In the case of giant, collossal battles they'll reinforce the node (put the system on its own special beefier server blade) and still have to slow down the game clock (Time Dilation or TiDi) where 1 second in game can be literal 30-60 seconds in real time (think purposeful lag so the network packets can all catch up). In the "Massacre at M2-XFE" they had over 1300 Titan class ships alone (Titans are the largest, most expensive class of ship in the game that takes multiple months of real time to build). While the most expensive fight that I know of in EVE, it was only the 3rd largest fight at the time. It was a slideshow not a fight, per se
Isn't that was the various election debates were supposed to be? A job interview for the voters to decide based on the answers given? How have they went in recent elections?
(BTW, if you're only requiring someone to do something after a certain age isn't that just another form of age discrimination? If the 70 year old has to give an hour long presentation that their aides whipped up for them and the 40 year old candidate doesn't...)
Yes, we would lose Bernie but also gain more opportunities to get more Bernies in there. I trust AOC to be more in-tune with modern problems and costs (from rent prices to daycare to AI to social media) than all the Feinsteins, McConnells and the like put together.
I sincerely doubt people would be happy to see a 75 year old working or even running a McDonald's shift, so why is it ok to see them running the most powerful nation in the world?
