I was never really a baseball fan. But my dad liked it so I tried to.

But what really got me into it, is where I live they have a summer league. Some towns have a team. I think there is 8 or 9 teams total. And they attract some of the best college players in the country. Because there are a ton of scouts that come to this thing. There are a ton of MLB players who came through this league.

Anyway. It's every summer. And each game is at a highschool or middle school park, with almost no bleacher sitting. The idea is that you bring a lawn chair and just park wherever you want. You can bring food, drinks. Some people bring beer. They sell food like burgers and hot dogs.

There are at least 4 games every single day 6 days a week from about begining of July to late August.

And the best part? Admission is free.

So about twice a week me and my father go to a game and it's fun to just sit there. It's not crazy and hectic like an MLB game. It's got this quaint small town feel to it. And it is the highlight of my summer.

I just watched through Patriot on Amazon prime. I'm in the US if that matters. I really enjoyed it. Very unorthodox. I can't even begin to describe it to friends to get them to watch.

Sword of destiny and the other short story collection of the book series "the Witcher".

The author started out just writing short stories for a local paper. Enough people really enjoyed them he took the characters and turned it into a book series which is also good. But the short stories are pretty much self contained little bits and I really enjoyed them.

I used to be lazy and would "let things soak". But now it's so easy I have cleaned up before I even eat my dinner.

It could have just been time. I wasn't really in the best place when I played BOTW.

But the main thing I can think of is ascent, and crafting. Being able to take two shitty weapons and glue em together to make one less shitty weapon. And I felt a lot more progression in weapons. As I kept playing I kept getting better weapons. Where it felt like I was still using sticks all the time in BotW because it's all I could find.

I'll probably give it another shot now to see if I've changed my mind about it.

I personally have a great experience with it. Therapy where I live is just a moot point at this point. I sought out therapy for three years. Both before COVID and after.

But I finally got together with an online telehealth and it's great. My therapist is in Michigan. And when I first started she only could see me about 8 times due to state laws. But recently state laws have changed and she can see me as many times as needed. Which is definitely needed.

But man I love me some Sanderson. I did the "year of Sanderson" in his Kickstarter. And then bought those leather bound way of kings and warbreaker to start my collection off.

I really appreciate you taking the time to respond. I'm sorry you have to go through something similar, but it does help that I'm not completely alone in thinking this about myself. I hope that you can break though this issue for yourself as well. And you have also given me something to work towards.

I've been in therapy which has both helped, and and not really helped. I am working hard to try and change, so i hope I can overcome this.

And I definitely think I'm being harder on myself. But I've always been my own worst enemy. Therapy can hopefully help.

And You honestly helped a ton, and like I said I appreciate you taking the time to give me such a detailed response, I appreciate everything you said. And I appreciate the positive attitude you have brought to this Convo.

I'm at a crossroads. I was diagnosed bipolar about 3 years ago now. And since then I have been on a constantly changing medication routine with adding this and taking away that while upping those. And I'm so tired of it all. I want to feel "normal" again but I'm coming to terms with that never being an option. Besides the whole "there isn't actually a 'normal'".

And the worst part of it all? I do not like the man I have become. I am bitter and angry and selfish and everything I hate in people. I've been doing damage control with friends I keep in close contact with. But I've started to distance myself from them Incase I say or do something stupid. I already did something that if I was on the opposite side of that joke I'd be extremely upset. And I'm upset at myself for ever thinking that was ok.

I look at my dad and see how I used to be. Loving, caring, kind, and considerate. And every day I look in the mirror I see myself straying further and further away from who I wanted to be.

I felt this way about the book series "the way of kings". I hadn't read since high school because I just couldn't get myself to read more than a few pages without getting bored. But I started doing audio books as friends suggested. And I started with "the Witcher" series. Which was ok. Not bad in almost any way, but didn't blow me away.

But then my friends suggested "the way of kings" by Brandon Sanderson and I instantly found reasons to listen to the audiobook more. Even just going on a walk to be by myself and listen. I then eventually switched from audiobooks back to reading, and then devoured almost all of Brandon Sanderson's books. I've also read the entire expanse series and greatly enjoyed it.

But funnily enough the series I'm reading as we speak is "Red Rising". Like you I wasn't sold at first. But once it hit. It hit like lightning. I'm in the process of switching between that and Sanderson's "the lost metal" because I can't decide which one I want to finish first.

And oh man I'm so glad I listened to him. I haven't been that absorbed into a game for a long time. At the end I didn't want it to be over so I just stalled the ending. I didn't even do stuff I just stopped playing.

And man beating it eventually was such a huge accomplishment. I almost quit many times over. But I would remind myself that this game is essentially "for kids" (not my kid) and that if a little child can beat it, I should be able to. I was so nervous. And took out the big baddie without dying once. But 20 minutes prior I was adamant that I could not beat it. So it's been a fun game to "challenge" myself on.

I absolutely second retro bowl. There's something so satisfying throwing a pass over a defenders shoulders and then your guy runs it in. I honestly get more excitement throwing a pass in retro bowl than in the new madden games. (Probably an over exaggeration)

But I'll be honest I get really into it for a month or two. Then drop off. Then forget for a year. Then get re-addicted.
