I did have some time to myself in the car earlier in the week however, so put on a 'classic' 00's metal anthems playlist on Spotify. It had the usual suspects from SOAD, Korn, Linkin Park etc.

I felt very old. These are tunes from 20 odd years ago now and I can't wrap my head around the idea these songs are now considered 'classics.'

I don't mind UFO believers getting moments in the spotlight. It's when all the flat earthers, moon landing deniers and anti-vaxers get given similar exposure it becomes dangerous.

The BBC have landed in hot water a few times for giving a platform to these nutcases.

Reminds me of the popular saying:

"Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity."

Furthermore, despite all the conspiracy nuts working hard to prove otherwise, life is rarely that crazy and the boring, reasonable explanation is often the correct one.

Disney especially are busy at work draining everything they can out of the Marvel and Star Wars universes. Not very surprising they're going through the backlog of other loved franchises too.

It's exhausting. So when this movie came out I just wasn't interested enough to check it out.

Years ago I bought and binged on X3TC for hours. It's a slow burn game with a steep learning curve, so the community was very helpful with advice.

One part of this forum was the Creative Universe. Players shared stories about the progress in their games. Some even weaved a narrative into it too. Me and a few other players all collaborated on one such story.

It was good fun, and probably the best online community experience I ever had. It might even still be going today.

    My son.

He will be 2 in a few months, and he's well into the "terrible 2's" phase. But over the last few days he hasn't been himself.

He's been clinging to daycare staff more than usual. His appetite has changed (he's always eaten, even if feeling poorly). It's just not like him to be this bad. Temperature is fine and no one knows what the matter is.

Got in a little trouble at work because I had to disappear to collect him. I can't afford to keep doing that. I hope he's not doing this on purpose to come home earlier than normal.

I remember another family we were once very close with. Every time they came over for dinner their sons, my sister and me would be in the living room watching this movie while the parents were in the dining room chatting.

Then I went through a phase of Manga movies. Ghost in the Shell, Blackjack, Vampire Hunter D all got watched regularly.

I hit the big 4-0 next year, and one thing I am starting to miss is my body.

I miss being able to stay up until silly o'clock, drinking and eating what I want and still be able to get out of bed the next day fresh and alert with my waist measurement unaffected.

I miss not feeling aches in my lower back if I have sat at my desk for too long, my feet killing me after a long walk, or bending down without making some sort of strained groaning sound.

I'm cool with getting older (I'll make a fantastic grumpy old fart) but I'm not looking forward to the physical side of it.

Heard their music featured on the Driv3r video game and loved it. I haven't heard anything similar to it since (not that I have been searching hard for it.)

Seems like they've since disappeared off the planet.

I don't feel as motivated as I used to be when it comes to work.

During uni days I dreamed of being the career type. Fancy job, city living...you know. Then I worked for a time. Doesn't matter what the job was, or what industry I was working in. The universal truths when it comes to employment are:

    • Your employer does not give a shit about you
    • Going 'above and beyond' does not grant you any favours
    • Being a career orientated person is a waste of time and effort

Perhaps I'm being overly cynical, but that's just my own experiences talking. It just clicked one day. Why the hell should I work my arse off trying to be the best employee I can, when I can coast along and do the bare minimum for the same thanks and wage (and probably still out-perform the slackers.)

So that's what I do now. It's all about a proper work/life balance.

In the US, there's already a precedent that voices cannot be copyrighted

I would hope that the law catches up as time goes on. As far as I am concerned, your voice, appearance and mannerisms are all details that can be considered personal identifiers and like any other personal information, should be protected.

Deep fakes and AI imagery is only going to get more sophisticated and realistic as time goes on. Don't want a repeat of the lack of customer protections with digital products because the law couldn't keep up with the times.

I know a couple of naughty ones.

Two Vampires walk into a bar. One orders a glass of fresh blood. The other asks for a mug of hot water.

The blood Vampire asks "why didn't you order blood too, are you alright?"

His friend pulls a used tampon out of his pocket, turns and says "it's OK, I bought a tea bag."

A friend of mine was out all night. He came into the kitchen at breakfast time because he had to tell me something.

"This new bar was amazing! The staff were gorgeous, great music and decent drinks. The best part is the solid gold urinals in the mens toilet!"

He was still going on about this 'amazing' bar when I hear a knock on the door. I leave him in the kitchen to answer it. It's a policeman and another gentleman I don't recognise, but looks very upset.

"Excuse me sir, would you be the gentleman who attended the Gala club last night?"

I shake my head, and ask what this is about. The policeman turns to the other guy.

"This is a musician who performed on stage at the club. He was playing saxophone when someone at this address climbed on stage and...well..."

So, I'd try and milk it as best I can. Every offer I get I'd try to accommodate. Save up the cash. Maybe do a little social media thing on the side, like a YouTube channel or an AMA? Just more my own entertainment rather than anything else.

Then just wait it out, and enjoy my earnings once I'm back to blessed obscurity.

Loved that game, but you can't ignore that the devs got lazier as you progress. Once you're near the end it's recycled enemies and dull environments.

All this I could forgive, but Malebolge. It sounds so cool in the original epic, but here it's a collection of 'challenge' tasks. Kill x enemies with this weapon and such. It is painfully dull to get through. And the worst one was needing to stay off the ground. You had to delay a specific execution animation just enough to fill time. Took forever!
